Chapter 1: Left Behind
Dear little brother Retsu,
Guess what, today is your birthday. Yup, the day Earthia brought you home. You were a cute little baby but you got stubborn as you got older. Now it's been what, twelve years since you arrived and we decided that this was your birthday, September 28th, and the date stuck as your birthday.
You were always different; from the top of your head to the balls of your feet, you were different. Now you're a man, and at your age thirteen you need to go out and find your place in the world. I have yet to find your passion in life.
I'm glad that you're my younger brother in a way. I'm pretty sure you will become a find man in the future. I see it perfectly clear. You will find some friends that you care about and even have a girlfriend but I don't want to believe it.
I guess you don't want to your sister to keep rambling about the future but here, in the future don't turn others away, go out more. Don't beat people up too much either. It seems it was only just yesterday when you were a little kid running around picking a fight with everything in sight.
I guess I don't have much to say in my young age but I believe you're going to grow into a fine young man but take life one step at a time. Don't let defeat get in your way of a happy healthy life. Like Elfman from Fairy Tail says, you're a man now, now go out and take on the world like nothing can stop you.
Your older sister always,
Kurumu Mizu-chi
P.S. don't hate me for leaving you on your own. I left some rations in your pack in case you get hungry.
What the hell! I shouted. Leaving me on my own is the dumbest thing Ru-nee has ever done this month. Stupid Ru-nee, I muttered under my breath. Well let's check and see what she left me for food. As I check the bag I was satisfied on how she at least left the food I liked. While scrambling through the bag I found a necklace in the shape of a scythe, and a note attached around the string. "This will increase your ability to use your dragon slayer magic" is what it said. At least she left a decent present, I thought to myself. I then packed up my stuff and headed out the door then sealing the house door with an ice and earth barricade so that no one could enter. Turning around to the house brought tears to my eyes, but they were quickly wiped away with the thought of the letter saying something about being a man. Putting on the necklace and strapped my pack and thought of how I will get to the nearest city and what I will do for money. The thought was interrupted by the sound of two men having a conversation coming from the woods. Without thinking I darted into the woods heading in the direction of the noise. I scurried quickly into a thicket as I found where the voices were coming from. These were definitely the ugliest human beings I had ever seen, even though I've only seen a few since Ru-nee would never let me go to the village with her. Thinking back on it distracted me and I lost track of one of the two men. Panicking I looked behind me only to find the face that looked much like a goblin in the books I read. Well, well, well look what we have here, said one of the two men while holding me up by the hood of the robe I was wearing.
