Missing You

REPOSTED FOR RIDICULOUS GRAMMAR MISTAKES (Thank you, Schermionie!)

A/N: for S i l v e r A u r o r a (Ellie) and (Lizzie) for inadvertently convincing me to write Harry Potter fanfic.

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.

Lily hates certain things.

She hates it when her brothers tease her about being the only Potter in Slytherin.

She hates it when she has to leave her parents standing on platform 9 ¾ at the start of the school year.

She mostly hates it when she isn't near him.

It's December - Christmas is only a week away. Lily perches on the edge of her armchair, and a large mug, once full of hot chocolate, sits at her feet. Her red head is visible only from her eyebrows up, and her bright eyes are intently following the words on the page of her book. The book, given to her by Teddy on her fourteenth birthday, is dog-eared and torn; it has tear stains, coffee stains, water marks (an unfortunate incident in the bath) and various other marks.

In three years she has read the book one hundred times.

It reminds her of him. And anything that can be connected with him is what is keeping Lily afloat. She hadn't seen Teddy since she was fifteen, when he left for somewhere in Scotland with Victoire.

Fucking Victoire.

Lily hates her with a passion, although she shouldn't.

She also hates winter.

It means that she can't spend time outside, in the wilderness. It means she is locked inside with her own self-loathing and misery. She is lonely. She misses her best friend. She misses the way he laughed at her. She misses the way he would hold her when she was upset. She misses the way his hair turned the colour of the stars when he thought of his parents. The way it turned yellow when he was surprised. The way it turned emerald green when he slept.

The many colours of the rainbow when he didn't know what to feel.

She sighs unconsciously, finishing the chapter and folding over the yellowed, ripped corner of the page.

She can't keep the sadness from affecting her, even after two years.

That's just life, she presumes.

A/N: Ok, so I've never written harry Potter before- I hope I got it right! Please, Please, PLEASE review so I can make sure I'm on the right track! :D
