Heroine With a Cape
In which Fang realizes how ridiculous capes look.
At first, Fang could hardly believe it.
Lightning wore a cape.
Upon first meeting her, she truly had to fight the urge to laugh at the soldier's choice of clothing. It's a bloody cape, for fuck's sake. Like a damn super hero or something. Juxtaposed with the fact that Light was serious to a fault, the cape was absolute comedy gold. Not to mention how she had a penchant for turning dramatically whenever something called her attention. Fang's lips quirked into an amused smile. The Cocoon native pulled off being a hero far more than Snow ever could. He, she thought, smile growing into an outright grin, could never pull off a cape.
Once Fang had gotten past the utter ridiculousness of the cape, she had to admit it was a very nice one. Looked like silk to her, dyed the deep, rich color of merlot. The material was light enough to trail behind their beloved leader, making for a suitable distraction from the back of Light's lovely legs. It flowed behind her now, as they flew through the Haerii Oldroad in search of their latest quarry.
Fang's eyes glinted with mischief. "Light," she called, with sufficient volume to attract her leader's attention. As expected, Lightning came to an abrupt stop and turned swiftly to regard Fang; her eyebrows furrowed lightly as she regarded her fellow warrior, no doubt expecting some amazing insight from Fang. None came forth, as Fang doubled over with intense guffaws at how serious Light was with that cape swirling around her. I'm reading a bloody comic book, she thought, snorting at the idea of a Lightning superhero.
Light stood there, completely bewildered by Fang's seemingly irrational actions (and extremely annoyed, of course). Before she could burst into a fit of rage, she lifted her eyes skyward and slowly counted to three in her mind; on the third count, she exhaled. "What?" she demanded, one hand coming to rest on her hip and the other flexing dangerously close to Blaze Edge.
"Nothing, it's just-" Fang gasped out between guffaws that were slowly dying out into giggles, "-your...cape. You just, you turned and-" Her laughter given new life and she was rendered useless once again, nearly crying due to the force of her amusement.
Light, in an uncharacteristic fit of self-consciousness, reached around to grasp her cape and pull it into her field of vision. It looked fine, or so it seemed. Once she was sure that it was in impeccable condition, she let go of it and fixed the most heated glare she could possibly manage upon the huntress. "I'm going to ask this exactly one more time and then I'm going to make you visit a realm of pain that you never even knew existed. What. Is. It."
The icy tone in Farron's voice sobered Fang up a bit. After the last of her laughter died out, she took one big breath and exhaled. "Oh, nothin' really," she assured, finally meeting those beautiful (and very angry) eyes. The woman was a lot less scary in light of the fact that she wore a cape. "I was just wondering where you got that lovely cape, is all." Her face broke into a smile again. "I think I'd look dashing with one."
Light was not amused. "Shut up," she bit out tersely from between clenched teeth and turned around again, angrily stalking down the road.
"Oh come on! Are you going to be mad at me?" Fang called out; Light neither answered her nor slowed down to wait, and she was forced to jog to catch up to her. She matched the Cocoon native step for step upon reaching her, waiting until Light's temper had simmered down a bit before adding, "You know, I bet Snow would look like even more of a hero if someone stole it and stuck it on his coat."
Fang took off running before Light began taking a swing at her head, laughing all the while.
