Leah probably shouldn't have smelled as good as she did, considering that she was a werewolf and he was a vampire.
James probably shouldn't have tried to talk to her, because that was how he ended up falling for her.
They probably shouldn't have started kissing as passionately as they did, when their instincts told them to hate each other.
Leah probably shouldn't have gone home while she was still lightheaded from the kissing and while she knew that Seth would be able to smell the vampire scent on her.
James probably shouldn't have followed her home when he knew that he would most likely never see her again.
They probably shouldn't have been meeting in secret ever since that first night.
They probably shouldn't have, but they did.
