Rejoice, You Are Victorious
As they left the plane, everyone of them felt a weight lift from their shoulders. A worry lodged down in their brains released. They avoided any recognition of eachother, and left in silence.
Fischer left first. Throughout the flight, he'd been haunted by crazy dreams, most of which he couldn't remember. The faces of the other people in the first class cabin looked weirdly familiar, but he dismissed it. He had other things to think about. Important things...
Saito left next. With a quick nod and the tiniest hint of a smile in Cobb's direction, he grabbed his bag and walked unsteadily out of the cabin and into the clear air of the jet way. A young man again, he felt powerful, in control. He had survived the nothing that was Limbo, and the everything that Limbo meant to all of them. He was going home, to enjoy the most restful sleep of his life.
Eames departed third, and he couldn't quite believe what they'd done until he was standing in front of the baggage claim belt. His suitcase had gone by three times before he recognized it. All he wanted to do is throw his head back and laugh, to fully enjoy the moment. In that instant, standing in the middle of the yellow lit basement of LAX, Eames had never felt more complete. He didn't know where he'd go next, but he could care less.
Yusuf scurried out next, running his fingers through his jet black curls with excitement, adrenaline from the dream still pumping through him. He grabbed his bag, taking deep breaths to calm himself. He would go back to Mombasa, for now, but the thrill of what he'd just been a part of intrigued him. Maybe he would try his hand as an extractor... but who knows? Now was the time for rejoicing, deep thoughts could wait.
Cobb's heart was thrumming a mile a minute deep in his chest as he stepped off the plane. Every security guard seemed to be staring at him as he headed toward immigration and customs, the final test. The moment of truth was upon him as his passport was stamped. He shared a tiny smile with Ariadne.
"Welcome home, "
Those words were immortalized in his mind for years afterward.
He had done it.
Ariadne found the first bench in the terminal and sat down with a sigh. She couldn't manage going back to her normal life, at school in Paris. The shock of everything that had happened in the last month crashing down on her. She had created a complex world, and none of it existed. She'd seen the shores of nothing, and survived the nowhere that it was. She'd kissed a man she may never see again.
She found her hands shaking as she lifted her bag from the conveyor belt.
She caught the eyes of Arthur, who gave her a calm nod. Eames, standing 20 feet away, smirked. Yusuf half smiled. Cobb was gone.
Arthur stared at the departure board. They would all split off in as many directions as possible before going to their final destination. For Arthur, he wasn't sure where his final destination was. He had nowhere to go, and at the same time he had everywhere to go. He looked at the list of possibilities. Definitely international. Maybe Europe...
Paris. Definitely.
Author's note: So, there you go. I gotta hint of Arthur/Ariadne in there. I just thought it would be interesting to know the thoughts of the team after their huge accomplishment. Thanks for reading! Please Review!
