Chapter 1: My story.

My name is Bao, Bao Beldyn. I'm not the typical kind of pokemon trainer. I don't get badges, I don't collect ribbons, and I'm not a breeder. I race. Yeah that's right, I race with my pokemon, and not the typical kind. I'm a part of the chariot league which allows pokemon to use moves to their advantage. You can tell that by my occupation I'm a bit of a thrill seeker. I mean this is essentially Mario kart in real life. My race partner is a Gogoat that I nicknamed "Gadget". Yes, I get the joke but I named him when he was a Skiddo and I was 8, so shut up. Gadget has the uncanny ability to defy the "four moves at a time" rule (which explains the name). Gadget is my first pokemon and by far my best friend. No matter how many mountains I climb or how many pokemon I catch Gadget is with me. Enough of that though the chariot league has just started and I'm about to enter.

The Chariot league is one of the less popular venues when compared with things like the pokemon battling leagues, but to me that just means that not as many people are good enough to try it. You see the chariot league is the only government approved pokemon competition where trainer injuries are commonplace. You have to be a trainer that is in tune with his pokemon to be able to race. The track isn't just a straight circle, it's an obstacle course with many hazards. Traps, jumps, dives, and opposing trainers are only a fraction of the worries you have to face. In fact I remember many races that ran through wild pokemon habitats. The end of each race holds the Sash signing ceremony. Did I forget to mention it? Instead of gaudy badges and frilly ribbons each racer has a single sash that have patterns woven into them for each race won(they're normally worn by the pokemon but I've seen many a racer wear them too). Only first, second, and third place get marks on their sash and each race is only allowed to mark a certain amount of it based on the races prestige. You can win a bunch of small time races or race a smaller amount of big races but the committee assures us its fair. When you fill the sash you get to enter the championship I think that of all the places I could be that this is the best.

Whenever I'm not racing I run a small package delivery service (got to pay the bills you know), and even that seems to be gaining popularity. I've delivered for a large number of people and organizations: Officer Jenny, Nurse Joy, Pokemon Rangers, Team Rocket, hunter J…. you get my point. My policy is to just do good business and as long as I can't be incriminated for their work I don't care. I mean I won't take a job to move something that's obviously a bomb (that would be stupid) but that doesn't mean I won't take "dirty work". The trick is to never look at the package's contents. If I don't know I can't tell. Besides that all the travelling is good for Gadget's legs. People tell me one day I'm going to get killed doing what I do. My response is always "bring it on".

My name is Bao and this is my story.
