After the Veil
Flash Back
Only one couple [was still battling, apparently unaware of the new arrival. Harry saw Sirius duck Bellatrix's jet of red light; He was laughing at her. "Come on, you can do better than that!" he yelled, his voice echoing around the cavernous room.
The second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest.
The laughter had not quiet died from his face, but his eyes widened in shock.
It seemed to take Sirius an age to fall. His body curved in a graceful arc as he sank backward through the ragged veil hanging from the arch…
"There's nothing you can do, Harry… nothing… He's gone."
End Flash Back
Sirius sat up and looked around. He couldn't figure out where he was at because it was so dark. His eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness and it appeared that he was in a bedroom. He gazed around the room and came to a startling realization; He was in James Potter's childhood bedroom.
His eyes grew to be the size of saucers and his mouth dropped. There was no way this was happening. He pinched himself and shook his head like a dog but the room was still there. He glanced at the desk he knew was in the corner and saw a picture of him and the rest of the marauders rough housing with each other; that had been taken in their fourth year.
What in the name of Merlin is going on he thought to himself. He took several deep breaths to calm his racing heart. The last thing I remember is getting hit by a spell and falling threw that arch with the veil. Right so how and the hell did I wind up here?
He brought his hands and rubbed his face. He froze and slowly brought his hand to his eye level. They weren't wrinkled or warn or scarred. They were the hands he had as a boy. holy- he didn't get to finish that thought because he had passed out again.
Later
"Sirius, wake up! My Mums got breakfast ready." A voice said while shaking his body.
"What're you doin' here Ron?" Sirius said groggily
"Ron? Who is Ron?" the voice asked again
Sirius sat up so fast he head butted who ever had been trying to wake him up.
"OW! What's wrong with you?" The voice growled angrily. Sirius looked at the owner of the voice and his heart stopped; it was Harry, only this Harry had hazel eyes. It was James. To be more precise it was the James he had known the summer before sixth year. He could tell because his hair was shorter than normal and had baby pink stripes in it from the last hex lily had thrown at him.
"Is everything alright in here?" a deep voice asked from the doorway. It was Harold, James' dad.
Sirius was shocked speechless. He had no idea what was going on but he had to find out. He had to get back to Harry and help the Order. Sirius then did the only thing he could think of.
"I need to speak to Dumbledore" He said firmly.
"What? Why?" asked James
"It's important I just have to speak with him as soon as possible" Sirius said
"I will floo him" Harold said leaving the door way. Sirius sighed then was sucker punched by James.
"What was that for!" he yelled rubbing his jaw.
"Who are you and what have you done with my best mate?" James said seriously
"What are you talking about?" Sirius said
"The fact that you want to talk to our Headmaster during our holiday" James retorted
"Don't worry your pretty little head about that Prongsie" Sirius answered
"Prongsie?" James asked bewildered.
