Kohaku Tribute

Disclaimer:I do not own Inu Yasha or any of its characters

Kneeling in the middle of the dirt road he could feel the hot tears flowing unchecked down his cheeks. Staring with unseeing eyes his world revolved not around him but in the burning hole in his chest where his heart was.

Fisting his hands he shook all over from surpressed emotions. Slowly he lowered himself so that his forehead was touching the ground.

"Gone, it's all gone. Why can't I, why can't I remember?"He paused as another sob stole the breath from his lungs and caused a tightening in his chest.

Wrenching his eyes shut He moaned as more tears spilled out staining the ground beneath his.

"Aneue."He whispered all his pain and heart ache in that one word. Another racking sob shook his frame stealing what little remained of his strength and sending him sprawling to the ground.

Time passed unnoticed as he layed there pouring out his grief to the dusty road. The sun set in the western sky and the moon rose slowly in the east with the stars shimmering overhead.

Rolling onto his back he stared up at the stars with a forlorn expression. Closing his eyes He saw still in his minds eye a star, one taken from his forever by forces outside of his control. Reaching out weakly He tried vainly to grasp onto the twinkling star.

"Aneue, come back."He pleaded pitifully as new tears welled up in his eyes. A flash of brown, a shade of pink, nothing. Not even his mind would cooperate with him. No images,no memories.

It was a very long time before he gathered up the strength to stand again. Longer still before he managed to move the few staggering steps it took to reach the side of the road. Once there he collapsed spiritless onto the ground and didn't move.

Closing his eyes he lapsed into an unfit sleep filled with swifting fleeing memories slipping away before he could grasp them. By the time he woke up he was exhausted and in worse condition than when he fell asleep.

Sitting up slowly he looked around listlessly taking in the rough woodland sights around his. Pushing himself up he glanced at the road unsure of which direction to take. Whatever had brought him here had taken away his memories of what he was to do when it took the rest of his memories.

No, not the rest. He had one, one bittersweet memory. A memory and a name not his own. Looking off to his left he choose that direction and started walking. The name on his lips leading his on.

"Who ever you are Aneue, I'll find you. And when I do, then I'll find who I am."He breathed clenching his fist to his chest, resolution and new strength flowing into his limbs.

Authors Note: Just a little tribute to one of my more favorite characters. Episode 163 has to be one of my favorite episodes and while rewatching it due to Inu Yasha withdrawl I got the inspiration for writing this. Just a little oneshot. I'll see what I can do for updating one of my stories after I finish my homework tonight.
