Set in the brief scene between Brian and Justin in Babylon.
He wasn't the type to buy flowers.
He didn't write poetry.
He forgot your birthday.
He didn't play an instrument.
Except you.
He kissed you in front of your mother.
He was all at once everything you've ever wanted and everything you've ever wanted to avoid.
But that didn't matter, all that mattered was that he could trail kisses softer than you thought he could be capable down your throat, along your collar bone, all that mattered is he could kiss you breathless, kiss you until he reached that sensitive spot slightly to the left of your naval that only he knew about and then lower still...
Brian Kenney wasn't the type to buy flowers.
But it didn't stop you loving him.
It didn't stop all of the longing, the yearning, the wanting that you'd only ever read about in books, seen in paintings.
Brian Kenney was a mystery.
But half an hour into your first encounter you knew him.
You knew all about his contradictions. How he claimed not to care but protected you.
Claimed to be selfish but rescued you.
Claimed not to love you but pulled the blankets tighter around your shoulders.
You would watch him watching you, his eyes clinging to you for a moment longer than they should, watch him lean into your kiss a little too much.
He wasn't perfect, you knew that.
He demanded a lot, and took too much without promising anything in return, he might never say what you want him to say.
He couldn't be your dress up doll and wouldn't pretend to be anything but the Big Bad Wolf.
You knew all that, but your still leaning close to him, reaching out to catch his shoulder, your giving him your widest eyes and your brightest smile and you ask hopefully, "Do you want to come to my prom with me?"
