Zelda lowered her bow, she stared at the arrow shot in the center of the red target. "Nice shot, princess." A voice said behind her. She spun around, only to find Link standing there. He gave her a warm smile, "You've been practicing. What for?" he asked. "I... just wanted to get better, is all" she replied, brushing the front of her dress off. "You've gotten better. Before, you could barely even shoot straight" he grinned, he stepped closer to her. She blushed slightly, and looked up at him, their eyes locking on each other for a moment. For that brief moment that their eyes met, it felt like hours to her. Her heart raced as she pried her eyes away from his, embarrassed. "Whats wrong, princess?". "N-Nothing..." she stammered, they had been very close friends for years, but she still was as nervous as ever. Neither of them spoke for a moment, thinking of what to change the subject to. The birds sang up in the trees, the kingdom folk chatted and did their daily chores, and the children of the village laughed and chased each other. It was a perfect day in December, it wasn't hot, but it wasn't freezing either. Just the perfect temperature in between.
Link cleared his throat, Zelda turned her focus back to him. "So uh... About what you told me a week ago..." he started. She knew exactly where this was going. Blushed, she replied. "Yes... I... It's okay if you didn't want to yet; the village folk kept bugging me about how I should find someone... Have children... You know, expand the royal family". "Actually, I was going to ask you about that," he said, rubbing the back of his head, "They're starting to catch on, I've been teased recently by some of the guards how I'm 'always chasing after her', and 'don't want to leave her side'". She swore she saw him blush in the corner of her eye. Before she could look up, he places his hand under her chin, lifting her head up to him. "If it's okay with you, I'd like to slowly work up to that. To start a family." she glanced up at his face, and her heart skipped a beat. She was seeing him blush for the first time! He awkwardly wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling him to her for a hug. "The babies would be adorable, don't you think?" She laughed, putting her arms around him. He chuckled, "They'd grow up to be great leaders." he said, his voice low. She slowly leaned in towards him, their lips almost touching. "Link! Get back to your guard!" A voice yelled, they could her the footsteps approaching, but it was too late. The commander walked into the training yard, to see them both staring back at him, with the deer-in-the-headlights look on their faces. "...Get back to work." the commander said, before turning around and awkwardly walking back out. They looked back at each other, blushing. "Well, you heard him. I gotta finish my duties. I'll meet you by the lake after, alright?" He said, planting a kiss on her head. He gently moved the hair away from her face and behind her ears, smiling to her. Link walked out, his helmet under his arm. She stood there, stunned for a moment. Blinking a few times, she came back to her senses. The words replayed in her mind: 'He kissed me, he kissed me on the head!' she slowly walked into the throne room, and sat down. The words kept screaming in her head, she could barely think straight. A citizen of the castle walked in, stating his business to her. She sat up straight, calming her nerves down. "Alright. Where do we start?" she said calmly. Link, in full armor, stood at the front door, guarding the princess. He grinned from the inside, seeing the look on her face, he knew she was still eternally screaming.
