A/n: The inspiration for this came from the Season 1 finale of 'The O.C.' It is my interpretation of what was in the letters Seth left for his friends and family. I know this will be outdated, since we're already into the second season. But here you guy anyways, cheers!
"Just tell that I'll be back in a few minutes." Seth said, looking up at Summer with pleading eyes.
Those eyes always had the same effect on Summer Roberts. She nodded, and backed away, heading towards the wedding reception and the activity. Back into the limelight, exactly where Summer belonged.
Seth gave a deep sigh, and looked out towards the ocean. The water looked calm and there was a slight breeze. If he hadn't been at this wedding reception, Seth would have loved to be out on the water, sailing. He had wanted to sell the 'Summer Breeze', as a last desperate attempt to earn some money for Ryan's benefit. Now, however, he thought that maybe sailing would be the best thing to clear his head, just him and the water.
Memories flooded back into his mind. Anna talking about sailing to Tahiti almost exactly a year ago. Ryan and himself planning on taking their ladies on a sailing trip, catching fish right off the side of the boat. This was enough to convince him. He pulled a pen out of his pocket, and headed back towards the wedding reception to find some paper.
Mom and Dad,
I hope you find this note before you do something really drastic. I figure you will, though. Dad is a lawyer; he's had practice with screwed-up kids. Like Ryan, for example. I thought you guys really understood Ryan. I guess I was wrong.
That's the reason I'm leaving. Yes, you heard me correctly. I'm leaving. Life was hell for me before Ryan got here, and I can't even imagine what it's going to be like with him gone. But, don't worry. I'm safe. I can handle myself. I should be back by August, before school starts. And I know exactly where I'm going; I'm not the first person to make this trip.
I'd like to think that Summer would be upset about me leaving, so Mom, maybe you can talk to her for me. You are a girl, after all.
See you soon,
Seth
Seth gave the letter an once-over glance before shoving it into the envelope. Then, he picked up another sheet of paper, and started over.
Summer,
I really am going to miss you over the summer. And I want you to know that I'm not leaving because of you. You had nothing to do with influencing this at all, and I wish you could come with me. But, Summer, this is where you belong. You live in Newport Beach. I don't. I just had to get away, I hope you understand. I'll see you in September when school starts again. I… I love you, Summer Roberts.
-Seth
A teardrop fell on this paper, and Seth tried to rub it off, and not look too overemotional. He was a guy, for any part. He looked over his room, pulled his duffel bag onto his shoulder, and, as a last impulse, but the map of Tahiti into his pocket. Ryan had given it back, and it was with good reason. You could always use a few ideas.
