Okay, this has been in my mind for a while and I thought I should at least write it out and see what you guys think. It's set after episode 13, Catherine's Tears. It's a conversation between Heero and Trowa as they're leaving the circus.

I have a strong opinion about the whole friendship thing between the pilots. I know I always say Duo is Heero's best friend, but I feel it's one sided. Duo thinks of Heero as his best friend, but Heero thinks Trowa as his. Quatre feels like Trowa is his best friend too, but Trowa just likes all of the pilots. He's definitely a secret keeper and enjoys everyone's company. I just think Heero and Trowa got along better because of them being so introverted. Quatre and Heero argued quite a bit, because Quatre was emotionally attached to more. I think Quatre and Heero are friends, but there is something different between Heero and Trowa.

Okay, on with the story.

A Confession

"That girl's tears stopped me. If you were in my shoes, you would have done it, right? Now you should know why I admire your strength." Trowa said, hanging his head in defeat.

"I've said this before; the only way to live a good life is to act on your emotions." Heero responded nonchalantly.

"Let's get going." The spiky haired pilot said, dropping the topic.

"Yeah."

After several minutes on the road of silence, Heero spoke, almost startling Trowa, "Actually, I wouldn't have done it if one girl stopped me. Orders or not, I can't seem to go through with my missions when she's around."

"Who?" he asked, surprised by the sudden confession

"The former Vice Foreign Minister's daughter, Relena. She's stopped me before. I had a mission to destroy her since she discovered my identity, but I was unable to go through with it." Heero said still in a monotone.

"She must be strong too." Trowa passed a sideway glance towards Heero. "Either she's just as strong as you or she's ignorant of the real dangers at hand."

"She's strong. We haven't been on the Earth for very long and we've already found people to protect. Even though I was supposed to kill her, I find it easier to protect her."

"Is she aware of your intentions, Heero?" Trowa couldn't help but smile slyly. The stoic man, full of strength and detachment was attached to a girl.

"No. She won't ever be, either." Heero relaxed his shoulders and closed his eyes, signaling to Trowa that the very revealing conversation was over. Trowa knew that this kind of confession wasn't something Heero would tell just anyone. Honored, Trowa promised silently that Heero's compassion towards the girl, Relena would stay between him and Heero.
