Rain dripped upon the magic umbrellas floating above the survivors. The clouds crying for the lost souls that had died in battle. The Battle of Hogwarts was over, but it would always be remembered. By those who had fought, those who had lost loved ones and by those who'd gotten a future thanks to the sacrifices made. Sacrifices that had cost lives.

Hermione cried on Ron's shoulder. Her tears falling into the puddles on the ground. Salt and fresh water mixing. Harry stood in the rain, letting the water wash away his sorrow. His tears made invisible by the droplets on his face. With an umbrella following above her head, Ginny walked to him and pulled her love in a hug. And George let his tears stream, weeping for his beloved brother.

On white gravestones the names of the casualties were engraved. Black beautiful letters adorned the stones. And one by one the attendees laid a single poppy on each tombe.

Creatures who'd fought against Voldemort's army paid their respects to the dead. House-elves gathered next to the graves and sang: old songs that were forgotten by wizards and hymns that had been composed for the deceased. Centaurs came from between the trees and shot a shower of arrows that exploded in a rain of rose leaves. Falling on the graves. A herd of Thestrals stood at the edge of the woods. Watching, seen by all attendants.

That day, heroes were buried, tears were shed, speeches were made and people were given hope for a new future. A better future. A future they would make themselves. And never would any of them forget the sacrifices made so they could have that future.
