A/N: It's been along time, I know, but I actually had a case of: "Wait a minute! That might work!" When it came to my writing. This one shot was kind of inspired by my pondering the meanings behind colors, particularly red, black, and blue. So, here goes!

The color red. It's just a pigment, really, but humans have been so affected by the simple pigment that it is actually quite astonishing. To the animal kingdom, red is a warning sign. If a predator comes across an animal with this particular fur, shell, or scale color, they turn away from it. They don't attack or eat a creature with such a bright color.

In the human psyche, red is a color of danger, warning, or even to some, death. This all comes from primitive times, when humans would shed the red liquid that was their life in battle with each other, or in most cases, the hunt for food. The others of that particular hunting party or family would watch as their brethren would shed this strange red liquid, and eventually stop moving and turn cold. Or in some cases, they'd come across a red colored food, eat it, then mysteriously die, and quite painfully, sometimes. Is it any wonder why the color red has the strange affect that it does in our minds?

Some may say: Well, the color red doesn't affect me! But it does. Subconsciously, when a child sees red markings on their paper at school, they get frightened, because red is used to circle or correct wrong answers on homework, or to give a big 'F' on a failed test. Red excites the mind, awakening passion, lust, fright, rebellion, and even anger.

A red rose symbolizes love, a red sign next the road automatically means "Stop" even without the big white letters, a red Poison Dart Frog means "Don't come close", a red sports car causes your insurance to be more than a regular grey colored sedan. All of this is affected by the color red.

So, to Yuffie Kisaragi, as she looked upon her friend and secret love, Vincent Valentine, she pondered the meaning of the color red. He wore a red cloak, and his eyes were red. What did that mean to the Heiress of Wutai?

To Yuffie, it meant mystery, danger, blood, and sin. Was this very surprising seeing as the man she looked upon personified those traits? He was mysterious because he hardly spoke to anyone, about anything, least of all where he came from, or his past. He was dangerous because he carried Cerberus: a three barreled gun that never missed it's mark, no matter the distance or angle, and was the host to four different demons that could very well destroy the world we live in. He personified blood because it was what he was born in: Hojo killed him, and Lucrecia brought him back but at a price; Chaos was infused into his being. He personified sin, because (not even talking about his sinful good looks, Yuffie thought with a smile), he carried the sins of others on his back like they were his own: The death of Lucrecia who was encased in Mako crystals, the birth of Sephiroth: a genetically enhanced man with Lucrecia, Hojo, and Jenova's genes who had tried to destroy the world twice, the death of Aerith because it had simply happened, and at the hands of the child of the woman he had loved so dearly and deeply... he carried these 'sins' around like the red cloak he wore.

Despite the psychological impact of the color, Yuffie was drawn to Vincent Valentine like a moth to flame. A girl liked a challenge, and that's what he was. He was mysterious, dangerous, bloody, and sinful, all at the same time, and that didn't stop the young woman. Despite the obvious warning Yuffie Kisaragi was in love with Vincent Valentine, the personification of everything the color red warned against.

A/N: Just a wierd little oneshot. I hope you enjoyed my musings, and if you'd like, leave a little contribution in the box(hint hint nudge nudge). Haha. Ta-Ta for now!
