Frances knocked at the door of Commander Spanggler.
"Come in cadet," he said.
Frances entered the room.
"Sir," Frances said, "I was the one who damaged your car and I am ready to accept responsibility for my actions.
Spanggler looked up at Frances with his one good eye.
"Well cadet I have never been so proud of you then I have been right now," he said.
"I'm sorry sir," Frances asked.
"You always thought I hate you didn't you," Spanggler said.
"Well yes," Frances admitted.
"Well I don't," Spanggler replied, "I love all of my cadets. Today you have become a man."
"Okay I'm a little confused," Frances said.
"You knew there were consequences to your behavior ad you took responsibility anyway. I'm going to issue you a pass."
"A pass?"
"Yes. Kind of like a get out of jail free card as a reward for what you did. You did well son," Spanggler replied, "Now you are dismissed."
Hal and Lois were at home when the phone rang.
"I got it," Lois said, "Hello?"
"Mrs. Williker? This is commander Spanggler"
"Oh no. What did Frances do this time," Lois groaned.
"Today your boy became a man. He took responsibility for his actions. You should be very proud of him."
"Well... I certainly am," Lois said, "What did he do"
Spanggler filled her in on what happened. Then he hung up.
"Well you're smiling," Hal said.
"Yes," Lois said, "Our boy became a man today."
She told him the whole story.
"You know," Hal said, "Maybe he's ready to come home"
