Darkness was the only thing surrounding her, encompassing betraying nothing, not letting anything penetrate the hold it had on her heart. Literally, nothing could break the pity party she had going on in that, brilliantly scary brain of hers, working out every possible situation and angle they could use to escape whatever new predicament they once again found themselves in, with no means of an escape or a chance that they may come away with their lives.
Taking away the one thing that kept her from falling apart was a very stupid mistake on their behalf. If they really think that by taking him, it would reduce the effort she put into to stopping them, as the untold threat that lingers in the air following her around, taunting and playing with her conscience, telling her that if she continues with her investigation, they would put a bullet in his head as a warning. Just a warning, they don't care that the consequences of his death would be far reaching and that on her part would mean vengeance, with or without her badge and friends for support. She would get her man, even if it meant she had to wait years for the perfect time, place and conditions. She would wait.
Taking him away from her and his family, was the single most stupid thing anyone will ever do, they cannot comprehend the pain she would cause them if he were hurt. 5 Minutes that's all she would need, but not necessarily want, as a lifetime alone with them would rid her of her anger and hatred for them.
As time goes by, the longer it takes to find him the longer her emotions have to brew and simmer until they reach a point when they have to simple break out and fight with the nearest thing be that may an idiot who dared to take him or a most trusted friend.
No one could understand the darkness that surrounded her; no one could penetrate her armour she had so quickly constructed around her heart in a mere matter of hours. The only person who could understand her was gone, in the wind, lost just waiting to be found and he would be found. For if not then the darkness surrounding her would become an old friend, for her would not be there providing her the light and strength to escape and be alive once again, protected his heart, body and the knowledge that he would never give upon her. Never.
