Supervisory Special Agent Emily Prentiss has finally admitted the truth to herself. She was in love with her boss Supervisory Special Agent In Charge Aaron Hotchner. She just could not decide if she was going to tell him or not. She was afraid of rejection.
Why did she have to go and fall in love with the one man she was not sure how he felt about her? Why did she have to go and fall in love with her boss? Why in the world did she have to go fall in love in the first place? She had liked her life the way that it was. She had liked the fact that she really had nobody else but herself to think about. Now it had all went and changed in the blink of an eye.
She could not take her eyes off of him but yet she wanted too. She desperately needed to take her eyes off of him. She knew that if she did not that he would see the love she had for him reflected in her eyes. She did not want him to know how she felt about him. She knew that if he did ever find out how she felt about him that she would just die of embarrassment.
Why is it that she always wanted something she could not have? The answer to that question was simple. She always felt safe wanting something she could never have because she could not get hurt that way. But now that she went and fell in love with Aaron she knew that regardless if she had him or not that she very well could end up hurt this time. And that was a hard truth to realize. She was not safe at all for loving him even if she loved him from far away because she could and probably would still end up hurt even without him knowing it.
She wondered why she even admitted the truth to herself. She was better off lying to herself. She shook her head as she realized that no the truth was better because this way she could look for ways to protect the heart that she had given Aaron and that he held in the palm of his hands without him even knowing it.
