Blood.

There was so much blood.

Glass, I remember there was a lot of glass too. Some clean and some bloody. He was holding a larger shard, it was bloody from where it had cut into his hand, and they're throats. As much as I wish I didn't, I remember that day all to clearly.

He, Mello, told me to meet him in the Common Room. I happily abided. We had been going out for a few days before that, and by that point I would have followed him anywhere. Even to death. Walking toward the room, a thunderous crash echoed through the halls. Running there was a blur, but what I found wasn't. Mello, clad in pure black was breathing hard, clutching a broken piece of glass hard. His eyes were focused on Near, who was shaking slightly from the floor. Much like the white haired boy, I was struck immobile.

All I could do was stare at the scene taking place infront of me. An innocent white angel caught helpless in the broken and bloodied path of a faithful angel who had fallen from grace.

Like a snake striking, Mello had tackled Near, Forcing the broken glass into the younger boy's windpipe. I'll never be able to force the image of Near struggling helplessly under Mello. In my games, I thought it was cool when one character slit another's throat. In real life, it's much more horrifying. In games, the characters can come back to life with a touch of a reset button, but not in real life.

Life doesn't have a reset button.

When the albino boy quit struggling, a sign he was truly gone, much like the love of my life's sanity. The blonde turned to look at me. Blood covered his face and his eyes were wild, unfocused, he looked like the angel of death. In a flash his breath came out in a short gasp, and his blue eyes focused on me. His eyes shot down at Near, lying under him dead.

He looked back up at me,

'What happened?'

'Did I do this?'

'How?'

'Help me.' flashed through his eyes. They calmed suddenly, as if realizing what had happened. 'I'm sorry.' he mouthed then everything went slow motion. The hand holding the glass rose painstakingly slow to his own throat. His jaw clenched as he shoved the glass into his own eyes grew wide as blood bubbled from his mouth, then his lifeless body collapsed onto Near's. I fell to my knees, my eyes locked on the two.

Who knows how long I sat there, trying to decide whether this was reality or not. The teachers came in and I blacked out after that.

I'm sorry Mello. I tried. I tried to follow you so many times. But, every attempt only pushed me farther away. I'm sorry... So sorry.
