I wrote this for a prompt exchange challenge.
The prompt was "The man, the trucker, the Frankenstein. Louis. He is going to die in thirty days, at 7:25 pm."
What would you do if you knew when people were going to die? Lily Evans went crazy. It hadn't really affected her for a large portion of her life, she just tended to ignore it and stayed away from the people who's days were the shortest. But it was difficult to talk to someone with the ever present date hanging over their head that seemed to tick down the time they had left.
Still, by all things considered Lily Evans was positively sane. Until March twenty seventh. There was nothing special about that day. She had a positively normal breakfast, sat through her classes quietly, and completed all of her homework. Really, the only thing particularly special was the fact that she had been pacing throughout the corridors.
She walked past the same section of wall before a door appeared. Lily hadn't meant for that to happen, she had simply let her mind wander for a few moments. Being the curious person she was, Lily entered the room without a second thought.
The inside was empty aside from a full length mirror propped against the far wall. Without thinking much about it Lily approached the mirror. Her reflection peered curiously back at her and for a moment she wondered what was different, but then it became clear. Hanging above her head was a date and a time.
April 29th 1976. 7:25 pm.
She had seen that same type of message above others, but never her. And April twenty ninth was in thirty days. Now Lily knew when she was going to die. And what else was a girl to do besides go mad.
