A.N./ I always felt that Gale was always meant to end up with Katniss, not Katniss with Peeta. In other words, GO TEAM GALE!
Anyways; in THG, Katniss wondered how Gale felt about she and Peeta kissing in the cave. This is my take on what the hunter saw and felt. Cheers!
Lemons
He looks up at the huge screen in the center of the square, unblinking.
They're kissing. They're really fucking kissing.
Gale feels a shiver of jealousy run through his body, but he shakes it away angrily.
You had your chance. You didn't take it...you should have pressured her into running away with you.
They were selfish thoughts, Gale knows, but he can't suppress them. The feeling of envy creeps slowly back into his mind, twisting and turning like poisonous gas around his thoughts.
Peeta Mellark.
Gale feels his jaw clench at the mention of the name of the baker's son. The curly-haired blond had never really interacted with Katniss in school as far as Gale knew, for he preferred to stick with his friends from the merchant's area of District Twelve, but more than once, Gale had caught him staring at his hunting partner, his soul mate.
Gale's scowl deepens as he notes the fact that Katniss doesn't protest to the kiss. Rather, she deepens it ever so slightly, causing a collective sigh to emanate from the speakers, as the Games' commentators are probably staring, moony-eyed at the scene and totally forgetting to do what they're paid to do.
A sour taste rushes through his mouth, as if he is chewing on a lemon, or a lime.
He knows the feeling all too much. Lemons and limes grew wild in the forest, and on more than one occasion, Katniss had stuffed a wedge in his mouth to stop him from scaring the game away while ranting about the Capitol.
But this time, it came out of nowhere, hitting Gale like a thunderstorm out of the blue. He can feel his face pucker up, his eyes narrow, and he turns around sharply, not able to bear watching any more of this.
Katniss would be thinking that Gale would be watching this as long as it went on, watching it in his quiet, steady way.
Well, if she thinks that Gale is able to bear watching Peeta suck her face off, she's wrong.
Gale pushes through the crowd, muttering apologies as he knocks aside members of his district. He breaks out into a run away from the town square, running towards his home. He stumbles through the door and throws himself onto a chair.
And in disbelief, he watches as a single teardrop slides off of his face and onto the wood.
Sooooo...I know that it's short, but what do you think?
