Disclaimer: I don't own Rise of the Guardians. The song is True Love by P!nk.
Sometimes I hate every single stupid word you say
Sometimes I wanna slap you in your whole face
Sometimes Jack sat for hours thinking of ways to get back at Pitch. The man was probably the biggest asshole there was. He would smile and hug and tell Jack he loved him but deep down Jack knew the man didn't care. Would never care.
You're an asshole but I love you
And you make me so mad I ask myself
Why I'm still here, oh where could I go
You're the only love I've ever known
But I hate you, I really hate you
Sometimes he would threaten to leave. After they had been screaming at each other at the top of their lungs for hours. When they were left panting and glaring Jack would stare at the man before him and feel nothing but hatred.
"I'm leaving." He would whisper. He always whispered it. He had to. But Pitch would just smile his twisted smile and walk towards him. Jack would scamper backwards in fear, momentarily forgetting he could fly, until he hit a wall. Pitch would loom over him and Jack would remember just who Pitch was. Then Pitch would roughly pull him to his feet and slam him against the wall. He would lean close, his lips brushing against Jack's ear, and whisper right back.
"Where would you go?" He would drop the boy at that and walk away. And Jack would cry until he ran out of tears. Where could he go? He had given up everything for Pitch. Pitch was his everything. No one would love him; no one would care for him. Pitch was always right. Where would he go?
Just once try to wrap your little brain around my feelings
Just once please try not to be so mean
Just once Jack wished Pitch would think about him. He wanted Pitch to care. He couldn't keep doing this. He was going to break soon. Maybe that was what Pitch wanted. But just once Jack wanted to be loved.
Why do you rub me up the wrong way?
Why do you say the things that you say?
Sometimes I wonder how we ever came to be
But without you I'm incomplete
"Why?" In the beginning Jack had more life to him. He would fight back. This time he had asked a simple question. Pitch slowly turned around to face the disheveled boy. Jack was propped up against a wall, cradling a broken arm and sporting long gashes from where Pitch had dug his nails into the boy's skin.
"Why what?" Jack seemed to contemplate for a moment before coming to a decision.
"Why do you love me?" Pitch had not expected that. Jack seemed unable to look him in the eye. Instead his gaze was trained on the small pool of blood around him. Pitch chuckled and smiled at the boy before leaving the room. He could never give Jack an answer. He wasn't really sure himself.
It must be true love
Nothing else can break my heart like
True love
Pitch had once told Jack he loved him. And at one point Jack had believed him. But this wasn't love. It was their twisted and painful something and Jack would never give it up for anything. And when Jack had told Pitch the nightmare king had smiled and pulled Jack into his lap.
"I love you too."
