Severus walked down the hall with his cape flowing behind him in a swirl of black. A deep scowl, which seemed to be permanently fixed onto his face, looked straight ahead of him as Snape did his best to appear calm. Two full weeks before school started Severus had thought he'd still be at his home in Spinners end creating potions and enjoying the brief period of peace he was allowed between school years. However it would appear as Dumbledore would no longer even allow him this amount of peace for any longer. No other teacher was available for the very important task Dumbledore had set of course, only Snape could be trusted enough with such an important mission!
Snape knew that in reality he was given this assignment because he was the only teacher who didn't have last minute plans made. He was the expendable person who was always given the worst of duties. Why else would Dumbledore be forcing him to spend two weeks in the presence of Lupin while Snape 'showed him around the castle and made him comfortable' as Dumbledore had put it. Also to make sure that Lupin knew where to go during the full moon, Dumbledore had scheduled the two weeks of hell to have a full moon land on the second Friday. Severus could not understand why any of this was necessary! It wasn't like Lupin would forget where everything was in the castle or what to do during the full moon.
Just remembering the full moon made Snape shiver with fright. He'd never gotten over that horrible memory from school when he'd sneaked down into the shriekin' shake and nearly been eaten alive by that monster of a wolf called 'Lupin'. The idea of spending any time with the man sent shivers of disgust running down Snapes spin. Why couldn't Dumbledore have him spend the next two weeks trying to make Voldemort join the Peace Corps? At least that would be more enjoyable then spending all his time with Lupin for two whole weeks!
"Severus!" His name was called from down the hall in the most cheerful of voices. Snapes mouth was pulled into a sneer as he looked to see none other than the wolf himself.
"Lupin," Snape greeted as he walked over to the wolf.
"Been a while hasn't it?" Lupin said with a stupid grin plastered over his face. He sounded like he was greeting an old school friend or something.
"Your room is this way, follow me," Snape said in a sharp clipping tone before turning around and walking away at a brisk pace.
Behind Snape's back, Remus rolled his eyes and followed the other. This was going to prove to be a very interesting set of weeks to come.
