A/N: Ah, time for a new poetry collection. In this one, I'll be including a greater number of structured poems and exploring a greater variety of characters. The first poem is my attempt at sonnet following an ababcdcdefefgg rhyme scheme with ten syllables per line. Written for Remi's Writing Poetry in Form Challenge and the 100 prompts challenge. Salazar/Rowena.
The Paths They Choose
1. Powerless
Moss grew upon the fair Ravenclaw queen,
engulfing her heart in darkness anew.
A man had inflicted bruises unseen,
betraying the one who trusted so few.
Salazar saw flames when he closed his eyes,
dispassionate Rowena on the stake.
Godric still pleading to compromise with
Muggles killing for ignorance's sake.
In lieu of watering the futile love
sprouted long ago in a barren soul,
he left the maid he was unworthy of,
unable to shield her from men of coal.
With shame he went without sparing a glance,
cowardice stealing a chance for romance.
