The Letter

By: Juria

Notes: This is just a quick Yuzuha x Yosho one-shot that, after realizing that no fics existed, I felt I needed to do. All characters are © to Pioneer, Funimation, or whoever owns the Tenchi franchise this week. The timeline is set on the same night that Yuzuha was attacked. Stupid guards, interrupting the fluff. Anyways, enjoy!

Prince Yosho stormed down the halls of the royal palace, ignoring the muttering captain of the guards who was following him. "I don't want to hear any more of it, you attacked her without a single hint of provocation!" The captain stood firm outside of the young prince's room, sweat dripping down his brow, this wasn't going to look well on his record. "But, your highness…." he began, but was suddenly silenced by a door slamming in his face.

Yosho gently rested his head on his pillow, letting the rage subside, and the tears come. "What were they thinking?! They had no right to come between us. She wasn't harming anyone!" A familiar figure sat down on the bed next to him, but he turned away from her. "Go away mother." he stated. Lady Seto calmly placed a small piece of paper next to her son. "You know, she cared about you." she said, before leaving her son to his thoughts, and to go rip the captain's head off.

Yosho sniffled as he held the crumpled letter in his hand, contemplating on where he should go from here. Gently, he opened it up, and listened to the young girl's voice read the letter, each line bringing a thousand new questions to him.

"Yosho,

I'm not sure where to begin. Ever since I saw you earlier this week, you just won't get out of my head, weird, huh? Since you were so kind to me, I don't know why, but I feel that I can tell you the truth about myself. I'm a demon, plain and simple. You're just the first person in my life to ever show me any kindness, I don't know what to do. Every time I close my eyes, you're all that I can think about. Your face, your laugh, all of it won't stop, I think I might actually like you.

At those words, the paper began to get a small red tinge, before returning to it's normal pale white color. Was she smiling?

I know, it seems weird, a demon actually liking someone, but I think that's what it is, unless you put a spell on me. You didn't, did you?

The sound of her soft laughter emitted from the letter, and it changed color again.

Anyways, I'm not sure if you feel the same way. If you do, please, meet me by the old cherry blossom tree on the top of the hill, you know, the one overlooking the whole city. Please, don't forget.

Sincerely,

Yuzuha

Yosho, now a much older man, stared down at the letter in his wrinkled, worn hands, and gave a soft sigh. "Yuzuha, we will meet again, soon." he said calmly, placing the letter back in Yuzuha's ancient box, listening to the sounds of laughter, mixed in with the usual arguing. Mayuka had come home. As the former prince of Jurai walked down the shrine steps, he could have sworn he heard a laugh in the wind, and a whisper from a time long forgotten.

Yosho
