It was around 9:00 or so in an alley. A small boy sat next to a box waiting for something. The moon stood high in the dark sky, illuminating the city of Mission Creek. The only sounds that could be heard were cars and plastic bags shifting in the wind. The boy looked no more than 8. He looked quite small, curled up next to the box with a few worn out towels, trying to block out the cold fall breeze. Later on a guy who looked in his teens approached the boy.

"Got some eats" He said a little exhausted. The boy looked up. The other person was quite tall and looked either 16 or 17. The taller one sat the box of pizza on the floor, and sat down next to the boy.

"Im pretty sure this one is sausage and the other half is mushroom" The smaller boy looked took a slice of the sausage pizza.

"Thanks.." The boy said tiredly. The taller one sighed and took another slice. He took a few bites of the pizza.

"no problem. Save some for tomorrow's breakfast and lunch"

The two ate the pizzas. Moments after their dinner, the two boys put up the pizza. The smaller boy crawled under the box awning the was set. The taller one took a spot next to him and leaned back against the side of the garbage bin. The boy layed his head against the taller one and adjusted the small blanket around himself. The taller kept the boy in his arms for protection.

"Goodnight Shep" The taller one said. The boy closed his eyes. "Goodnight Adam" The two fell asleep for yet another night under the stars.

In a mansion upon a hill there were two teenagers playing video games.

"Oh come on! Hoe do you keep winning?!" The boy, who looked about 14 yelled. The other teen smiled proudly at his victory.

"Im just that good! Face it Leo, you can't beat me!" He began doing a victory dance in front of Leo. An adult emerged from the dark hallway into the living room to find the two.

"Leo Chase, I told you two a half hour ago to turn off the video games!" A woman scolded. The two smiled nervously.

"Oh was that a half hour ago? You should've told us!" Leo said while trying to cover up their little disobediant action.

"Turn it off, or else" The woman said. Leo looked a little afraid while Chase just sat there. He wasn't aware of the womans threat.

"Or else what?" Chase asked while laughing and crossing his arms. The woman put her hands on her hips and smirked.

"Or else, I'll have your father turn off your little..gifts" She said while air qouting "gifts". The two sighed in defeat and walked upstairs.

"I swear, those two wouldn't know what to do if they couldn't have video games" The woman grumbled while putting up the controllers. She then turned off the lights and walked upstiars to her room.

"They wouldn't quit playing games?" A man who was laying in the bed asked. She nodded and sighed.

"I heard them venting to eachother on their way up" The man said. The woman let out a small chuckle and got in the bed.

The couple went to sleep along with the two teens in the house.

Adam and Shephard layed in the alley. Shephard however, was wide awake. He looked up at the night sky. He nudged his brother's arm, which woke him up.

"What's going on?' Adam asked a little tired.

"I can't sleep" Shephard said. Adam sat back up and sighed. "Why not?" Adam questioned.

"I had a dream about Dad" Shephard said while looking at the cold concrete. Adam sighed and pulled his younger brother close.

"I know it's bad. But trust me, we're actually better off without him" Adam said. Shephard sniffled a little.

"Really? Look at us, we're living on the streets where nobody cares about us" Shephard said while beggining to cry a little. Adam hugged his brother and tried to calm him down.

"Trust me, someone out there does. Now what's important is that we stay together" Adam said, trying to cheer his brother up. "I doubt it" Shepard said. Adam sighed again. Small bits of thunder could be heard throughout the sky. Shephard tensed up.

"Don't worry Shep, I got ya" Adam said while tightening his grip around his terrified little brother. The two then fall asleep on the concrete.
