Walking outside Seattle Grace Hospital, Alex Karev took a deep breath of damp air. As he strolled along the side of the building where he had parked he stopped suddenly thinking he heard something. "I'm so tired I'm hearing things now" he said with an exasperated laugh. Before he had a chance to continue his long awaited walk he heard it again. Turning around the corner near the back part of the building he saw the one thing that made his heart break. "Addison…" he said quietly. She jumped at either being found doing the one thing she despised or him scaring her. "Karev you scared me" she said trying to wipe away the tears before he noticed, she was to slow. "Are you ok?" "I'm fine, just tired." She stated not too convincingly. "What's the matter?" he said stepping closer to her. "Nothing! I'm just tired and…" she was out of excuses and tired of using them. He took a step closer, now only inches away. She turned her back and began to quietly sob hoping he'd take the hint and leave her alone. Nope! She was tired really she was tired of holding it in and acting like her getting pregnant with Mark's baby and then losing it had never happened she was tired period. Sliding down the wall she placed her hand on her chest and continued to sob. "I can't…I can't… I can't. She didn't have to finish her sentence he knew she was going to say "take it anymore" he finished for her. He sat down next to her and used his hand to rub her back soothingly. Addison dropped her head on his shoulder and her sobbing subsided. Standing up she noticed it had begun to rain. Stepping out from under the building she lifted her face to the sky, the rain cold on her face. He watched from where he was, knowing what had hurt such a strong woman. Then Addison did the most unexpected thing, not only because of what had just happened but because she was Addison, she began to laugh, so quietly so that anyone passing by wouldn't hear it but he did and it made his heart melt, and spin with her arms open reaching towards the sky as if she was waiting for someone to catch her. She stopped and looked toward Alex standing where she was only moments ago crying and realized he already had.
