CHAPTER ONE
"Hey, Harry."
The black-haired boy turned to the direction of the voice. It was his best friend Ron Weasley. Ron took the seat next to him on the Gryffindor table in the great hall.
"Hey." Harry greeted back then continued eating his breakfast.
"So, have you heard about Cho and Cedric's break up? It's all over school."
Harry didn't say anything. He had heard about it when he overheard three second year girls talking about it when he passed by the corridor on his way to the great hall that morning.
"You have your chance now to ask Cho to be your date on the Christmas dance." Ron continued, unmindful of his silence.
Ron knew that he liked Cho Chang but that was before. What his best friend did not know was that it was Ron's sister who Harry wanted to ask to the Christmas dance. Harry had been over Cho for a long time now. He wanted to ask Ginny to the dance but he knew that he can't since Ginny isn't exactly available right now. Ginny is dating Harry and Ron's classmate, Dean Thomas. And it's bugging Harry big time.
"Are you taking Lavender to the dance?" Harry asked Ron, trying to turn the subject away from him.
"Well, yeah. Who else would I take?" Ron said almost defensively.
Ron has been dating Lavender Brown for almost a year now. At first, Ron seemed happy with her but now, Ron always makes up excuses whenever Lavender asked him to go out on a date.
"You aren't happy with her anymore."
"That's not exactly true… well, she could be really demanding and clingy and whiny most of the time. And she always wants me to wear that stupid necklace she gave me on my birthday!" Ron complained.
Harry couldn't help laughing but he stopped when Ron gave him a deadly look.
"Then break up with her." Harry suggested, still grinning.
"I would, but every time I hinted about it, she'd start crying her eyes out!"
"For a guy, Ron, you sure are whiny."
Harry and Ron turned around and saw their other best friend Hermione. Hermione went to the empty seat beside Ron.
Ron glared at her.
"What about you, Hermione? Going to the dance with Michael?" Harry asked Hermione who started filling her plate with food.
"Yes, but he hasn't asked me yet. But I'm sure he will" Hermione said casually.
Hermione has started dating Michael. But Harry wasn't sure if Hermione really likes the guy. It could be that Hermione was just using him to annoy Ron. Harry's two best friends could not admit their true feelings to each other.
Ron just continued glaring at Hermione.
"What's with the glare, Ron?" Hermione asked without looking at Ron.
"Nothing," Ron mumbled then turned his look down on his food.
Harry sighed. His two best friends could be really stubborn. Ron and Hermione are too proud to confess their feelings toward each other. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are already in their sixth year in Hogwarts. The three of them have been friends since their first year and throughout the years, Harry witnessed how Ron and Hermione have grown to like each other romantically, though none of them would admit it.
The three continued finishing their breakfast. But Harry was still thinking about Ginny. He really wanted to ask her to the dance. But it was impossible since she was already taken. He actually blamed himself for it. If he just asked her out earlier, then she wouldn't be out with another guy. He's such a moron.
