Disclaimer: I do not own Attack on Titan! If I did, then I would make Eren nicer to Mikasa.

My friend wrote the first chapter, so give her credit if you like it.

Levi looked into the lifeless eyes of his former comrade, Nakagawa Akane. She was gone. There was no avoiding the fact now. He couldn't help the anguish that was starting to suffocate him. She was the only one who had actually gotten close to him. So close, that he would've considered her a lover.

And now, she was dead.

Her blood was smeared across the grass, dying it a dark crimson. It was all his fault. He didn't see that variant Titan behind him. So she took the hit for him.

He couldn't cry, because he ran out of tears a long time ago.

"Dammit... Akane. You fucking idiot." he yelled, and looked into the eyes of his dead friend.

He could've sworn her lips perked up into a ghost of a smile. But she was dead. And that was irreversible.

"Heichou, we have to leave." Petra said, pointing at the yellow flare in the sky.

Levi nodded, and took one last look at Akane.

"Goodbye."

"Akane! Help me with the groceries?"

Akane jumped down all twenty-six steps on the stairs, and ran to help Iris with the groceries. For the past three years, that's all she ever did. She had no recollection of anything prior to the three years. All she knew was that Iris found her outside of the walls. And that was all Iris would tell her.

There were food shortages, yet they managed to get food, most of the time. As of now, there was milk, eggs, and bread. And that was already pretty good.

"Iris~ Can you show me that move again?!" Akane politely demanded.

"Akane, I'm getting too old for this." Iris muttered.

Akane raised her eyebrows.

Iris sighed, and motioned for Akane to come outside. She then showed her the offensive attack once more. Iris was originally a commander in the Survey Corps. However, after losing her left arm, she resigned. In all her years, she honestly never saw a person with as much spirit and talent as Akane. She seemed like a natural fighter.

The thing that caught her off guard when they first met, was her name. Nakagawa Akane.

She had a slight suspicion that Akane was the same Akane that was labeled as 'M.I.A.'. Her hand-to-hand combat skills were prime, and she had excellent aptitude. But that suspicion was killed off when Akane didn't even know what the Survey Corps were.

"Akane, I'm having an old friend come over today. He finally has a break and-"

"Iris. Your home is fucking filthy."

Iris sighed, "That's him."

Akane grinned, and tightened her ponytail. The people that Iris invited over were usually kind, but they often gave her weird looks when she told them her name. Nakagawa Akane, her name couldn't be that weird, right?

"Levi, honestly. Leave my house alone." Iris scolded jokingly.

"No. There's fucking dust everywhere, and there's papers on the floor. Can you please get off your fat ass and clean it once in a while?"

Iris folded her arms, and glared at the shorter man. For a midget, he did have quite the mouth.

"Hello!" Akane greeted him brightly, stepping into the view of Levi.

"What the hell is that? Iris, if this is some sick joke, then it's not funny." Levi spat, looking at Akane.

"What do you mean? Don't call her a joke. She's a person." Iris said.

"Fuck it, Iris. Akane is dead. Stop screwing around." he muttered angrily.

"I'm not screwing around. I don't know what Akane you're thinking of, but this one's alive and kicking." Iris shot back irritably.

Levi looked at Akane dead in the eye.

"Nakagawa Akane. She died three years ago. And the dead don't just resurrect."
