Disclaimer: Nothing Rent related is mine. 'Cept Angel - just kidding. I WISH.
AN: Idea came to me while watching Rent. Computer screens reveal a lot more than regular TV screens for some reason. . .Anywho, what if Angel died with Mimi at her side instead of Collins? Read to find out.
"I hate hospitals." Angel said.
"I know, I do too. But they're suppossed to make you better - well, the doctors anyway." Mimi said.
"Well it's not working." Angel said. "Last time I checked there wasn't a cure for AIDS. When you know that, and to top it off you're in a hospital, it kinda dampens the mood."
"Oh, Angel!" Mimi said hugging her best friend since middle school. "Try to forget about that," Angel scoffed. "I know it's hard, but you gotta try." Mimi said. "Oh, I know! I'll paint your nails, I already did mine so even when I'm not here, I'll always be with you. We can match!" she said, showing Angel her own nails.
Angel chuckled. "You're such a sweet heart." she said grabbing her friend's hand. "Okay," she said letting go of her friend's hand, indicating to paint her's. "This is so high-school." she said with a laugh, thinking back.
"I know, isn't it?" Mimi said smiling, beginning to polish Angel's nails.
A few minutes later Mimi was finished.
"They're beautiful! Thank you." Angel said.
"No problem." Mimi said shrugging.
"So, what's been going on with you and Roger since I've been cooped up in this dump?" Angel asked, trying to get a conversation going.
"Oh, nothing much." Mimi answered with a sigh. "I'd rather not talk about it."
"Oh, sweetie! Did he dump you? I'm so sorry." Angel said.
"Well, not officially, he's been pretty much ignoring me since the day Benny gave them all their stuff back." Mimi answered. "By the way, I loved your outfit that day, too. Especially the sequined skirt." she said subtly trying to change the subject.
"Your's looked great too, girl." Angel said. "Ah, yes. That skirt's a favorite of mine too. But you won't get me off the subject of you and Roger so easily."
Mimi sighed.
"What about that one day when everyone came here?" Angel asked.
"He came here for the same reason everyone else came here for," Mimi answered. "And that's you, baby doll."
Angel laughed. "Please, you're reminding me of my mother." Mimi cracked up.
A few minutes passed and Angel's final moments were coming.
"Hey Mi-mo," Angel said grabbing her friend's hand. 'Mi-mo' was a special nickname for Mimi that Angel rarely used.
"Yes, Angelina?" same rules as used for 'Mi-mo' apply to 'Angelina'.
"Can you do me a favor?" Angel asked.
"Anything."
"Tell Collins I love him," Angel said. Mimi nodded, knowing her best friend's life was coming to an end.
"I love you too, sista." Angel added.
"I love you as well, sista. Oh, we're all gonna miss you."
"I know," Angel said closing her eyes, but not slipping away just yet.
"Oh, Mi-mo, one more thing."
"Yeah?"
"Keep Roger by your side at all times, you never know when you'll need each other." And then she was gone. Mimi looked down at Angel's recently painted nails and then looked at her own. Even though Angel was gone, they'd always be together.
