I kinda went out of my way for certain parts in this story. But, I only did to make the fic better. Let's hope everybody's heard of Beowulf and the Canterbury Tales in history class. Well, as I was creating the story on vacation while I was in Virginia, I happened to look up and see my grandmother's bookshelf, which is filled with books 90 years old and maybe older! So, it was a perfect way to get some information on old religions and myths. Please enjoy this fic! I went through soooo many books to get the introduction lines. Well, here goes! Oh yeah, I changed my pen name to Sorairo Ryuu, which means 'azure dragon'. This chapter is a teaser from a future chapter. Let me know how you like it!

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!!!

From Future Chapters...

"I see," the hanyou muttered.

He closed his eyes and sighed once more, and then the storyteller mumbled something under his breath.

"What is it," asked Sango.
"What stopped you," questioned the silver haired boy.

Sesshomaru sighed and looked at Inuyasha with his nearly blind eyes. "Three things... I wasn't born under the dragon, I don't bear the Mark on my chest... and I don't want to die yet," he said, ending with a cold smirk.

The firelight rippled on the rocky surface of the cave walls. Inuyasha's eyes glistened wildly in the strange, radiant orange glow from the fire, which sent an odd chill down Kagome's spine.

"Plus, I can't. The Marked One sits in front of me," the aged youkai added in a mixture of an envious and harsh tone.

The dog-eared boy scowled. "So you're saying I'm this 'Marked One'," he snapped with a hint of irritation.

The story teller's bangs rushed forward then back as his head bent down into a nod, then his dull bronze, cataract covered eyes locked with the bright gold, clear eyes on the opposite side of the dancing bonfire.

"Why do you think this," Inuyasha quizzed the old youkai.

Sesshomaru leaned forward slightly, squinting as he looked at Inuyasha's face. "You bear a green circle which is tattooed around your right eye, do you not," he finally asked.

Inuyasha nodded. "I've had it ever since I was a pup. But I'm not sure what it means."

Sesshomaru sighed. "I symbolizes you're not ordinary. You are neither human nor youkai. But, you are extremely powerful for a hanyou. Thus, you are marked with the symbol of strength. The green ring."

Sesshomaru's eyes seemed distant and his expression looked as if he was far away. "Painted on he the symbol of might," he recited softly.

"What does that mean," quizzed the young miko.

Sesshomaru looked up at Inuyasha's companions, his dull bronze orbs holding a slight shock in them. "You travel with the one of prophecy, yet you do not know the ancient verse?"

Miroku, Sango, Kagome, Shippo, and Kirara looked at each other then back to the old youkai.

Inuyasha's ears quivered a moment before he spoke. "I've only heard something dealing with tests."

Sesshomaru's eyes flashed for an instant, almost making him look young again. "Ah... Then I shall recite to you the ancient prophecy..."
