Invincible

Disclaimer: I don't own the WarCraft franchise.

The Captain had been the first to fall. Arthas looked up as he appeared, smiling grimly.

"Welcome to hell Captain."

The Captain looked at him, and his eyes flared with rage. He strode up to him and punched him in the face. Had Arthas not been sitting already, the blow would have knocked him down. "Traitor." The Captain hissed. It stung more than a punch ever could. He gestured at the walls, which showed what was happening outside.

"Quite ironic, is it not? I gave everything for the power to avenge and save my people, only to have that same power turned against them." He let out a laugh filled with self loathing. "Don't talk to me." The Captain snarled. He then turned and stalked over to where the other soldiers that had started appearing had begun to gather.

Over time, more souls appeared first those of his expedition, later natives of Northrend. Then, one day, another soul appeared. Arthas hadn't been able to watch. As he felt the soul appear in Frostmourne, he shrank into himself.

"Oh Arthas…"

Arthas froze in shock as his father's arms wrapped around him. "Why?" He croaked out. He looked up, and his father smiled sadly at him. "My son, even if you were in control of your actions, do you think I could ever hate you?"

"But father, I chose to take up Frostmourne. Even when I was in control, I still did terrible things!"

"If given the chance, would you do them again?" His father asked.

"No, of course not! However, the fact is that I-" His father cut him off with a gentle smile. "Then I forgive you for everything you've done Arthas."

"But Father, you don't understand! I personally slaughtered Stratholme! I burned my men's ships! I got Muradin killed!"

His father sighed heavily and looked him in the eye. "My son, do you truly think that it would take so little to make me stop loving you? I don't care what you've done, all I care about is that you are truly sorry about it."

"But father-" His father cut him off again.

"No buts Arthas." He smiled sadly. "It seems you will never know the joy of having children yourself. If you had, you would understand."

AN: Whelp, that's as far as my inspiration took me. If anyone wants to do anything with this idea/premise/whatever, feel free. Heaven knows WarCraft could use some more decent fanfiction.
