The dragging wind seemed to pull her hair right off her scalp. Iris grabbed the collar of her tattered jacket and wrapped it around her neck like a life jacket. The desire for warmth etched its way to her number one priority. Ignoring the incessant grumbling of her stomach, she entered the sanctuary of a heated cafe. As if her lack of clothing wasn't screaming for attention enough, her stomach let out one last protest of malnourishment DEMANDING people's attention. With a sheepish grin to all the patrons she immediately found her feet pulling her to the back of the crowded establishment. As the scornful looks went back to their luxuries, Iris sighed with contentment. With Her stomach still grumbling, her temperature rising to normal, she closed her eyes, she still felt safe from the outside world.
