The door opened quietly, and a figure slipped inside. Gray eyes sought out the other figure in the chair beneath the lamp, a book open. Amber eyes snapped up to meet the gray, and they hardened. "Well?" Remus questioned.

Sirius shifted. "I'm sorry," he muttered, making his way farther into the clean apartment after shutting the door behind him. "I know you're busy, it's just…"

Remus made no move to make Sirius continue when he trailed off, nor did he shift to comfort the other man. The silence stretched on, eventually becoming unbearable. When it reached this point, Remus sighed. "It doesn't matter. We're both stressed. I get it."

The gray eyes snapped back toward Remus, away from the floor where they had settled some time before. "Really?" he asked.

A nod. Then the silence continued, though not as oppressive as before. Sirius stared at the floor, still, wrapped in guilt, unable to look at his partner. After a while, he heard Remus sigh. "Come here, you stupid mutt," Remus muttered.

Sirius changed into his dog form quickly, just to be slightly annoying, and launched himself into Remus, winding him. "Asshole," Remus gasped out.
