It's been a long time since I've come to this site, but inspiration hit me and I had to get this little thing out of my head. Life is busy, but there might be time for some other ficlets like this.
Set sometime during S6, pre baby.
Hope you enjoy it!
And feel free to let me know what you think!

"It won't be not long now." She says glancing at him sideways over her cup of morning coffee.
"No, guess not." He says, his voice raspy like it usually is in the mornings.
"You exited?" She asks before taking a sip, still keeping her sideways glance on him.
"Yeah, would be lying if I said I wasn't McNally." He says with a hesitant smile and she feels a bit guilty. Feels like maybe she is the reason why he can't enjoy it fully, becoming a father for the first time and all.
"So am I." She says and looks away. Eyes going down into the cup half filled with coffee. And she's telling the truth. She is excited. It's not a lie. She wants to see Sam's daughter. How she'll turn out. If she'll be like him or if she'll be different, like her. But it also hurts. She wanted to be the one. The one to mother his children. The one to make him a father. She probably will be too, won't she? He'll want to have more children, no?
"Get outta your head, McNally." He says, sliding his arms around her waist and pulling her close before kissing her temple"We're still headed upwards."
