A/N: I just thought of a funny scene and thought I would share it with you guys. However, I must tell you this would never actually happen. Just in my wandering mind.
A knock on the library door, which was currently occupied by the newly married Darcys put an end to the said couple's amorous activities. Modest enough, Mr Darcy loudly said, "Enter."
Mrs Reynolds quietly entered the library and started speaking without making any eye contact.
"Mr Darcy, I would like to speak with you,"
"Of course, Mrs Reynolds. What's the matter?" Darcy said a little worried over Mrs Reynolds countenance. She did not curtsy. She did not acknowledge. She just started speaking.
Here Elizabeth got up and said, "I will go to the…gardens,"
"Forgive me, can I speak to you too ma'am?"
Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam looked at each other. It was not unusual for Mrs Reynolds to speak with them. But her body language today, had somewhat alarmed them. Elizabeth stayed there and went on to sit beside Fitzwilliam.
"Well, it is not really my place to say this," Mrs Reynolds began.
"Mrs Reynolds, you know you can speak freely here," Darcy said. After the loss of his mother, Mrs Reynolds had become his nearest confidante. The late Mr Darcy had gotten lost in mourning for his wife. Fitzwilliam trusted and respected Mrs Reynolds completely.
And then the talk began. Mrs Reynolds let go of her inhibitions and started talking. "Sir, ma'am…The servants here at Pemberley are very discreet…they know when to look away…and what to ignore…"
A blush crept on both the Darcys faces. Of course, the staff at Pemberley had noticed their activities. They knew better off it to not tell anybody outside. But as they said, gossip did travel faster than light.
"What I am saying is that you have been married for just two months. I can see that you are very much in love. But, sir people gossip and it will be madam's first season with the ton. In London, you can never be too careful," Mrs Reynolds continued looking at her palms. Her face was also red. Am I really having this conversation with my master? I must be really brave. I hope he doesn't dismiss me after this. Mrs Reynolds thought.
After recovering from their blushes sufficiently, Fitzwilliam looked towards Elizabeth and they turned red again. 'How in the world was this to be achieved?' were both their thoughts. Not in the slightest were they offended by Mrs Reynolds speaking freely. Embarrassed – so very much but not offended.
Mrs Reynolds got up, curtsied and left quickly, leaving the said couple looking at each other with a hint of embarrassment but a lot of passion.
Propriety be damned!
