A/N: Set after the Drimogemon incident, and written for the Mega Prompts Challenge, word prompts #395 – rescue.
Put Past No Further
Thomas and Marcus had managed to put a few of their differences behind them, but there was still something irritating and embarrassing about being rescued by the rash new member of DATS. Maybe it was because Thomas was used to being the one who swept in to save the day – and though he'd never say outright he had a hero complex, he might have a teeny little one buried in there…
But it was also because it was Marcus. The boy who was the opposite of everything Thomas strove to be, but who had still managed to come out on top. When they'd first been introduced, Thomas couldn't believe it. That sort of guy belonged in street fights, not in a government organisation. And they'd proved that fact time and time again, as they tried to work together.
But the latest incident…just went to show that Marcus' madness had a method after all. And that was what was lacking with Thomas' own strategies: that impulsivity, that trust to something greater than measly humans like them could control.
But Thomas still wasn't ready to admit those things. Marcus had saved him. Thomas had said thanks. They'd agreed to put their conflicts behind them – at least to the extent that they could function on missions. And, for now, that was it. The matter went no further.
