A/N So this is my first fan fiction so please review and fav! P.S. I don't own the Hunger Games and all that chizz.

Chapter 1

I was woken up by a violent knocking at the front door. I didn't get up right away because I was sure my mom or dad would get it. I heard my mother's footsteps softly padding across the floor to the front door. When she opened the front door she uttered her usual "Hello." as she does every time she opens the door.

I couldn't quite hear the conversation so I moved from my bed to the doorway and slightly stuck my head out so I could see who she was talking to. I was surprised to see the white uniform of a peacekeeper.

"Mrs. Mellark, this is important. If they start having the Hunger Games again not only will your daughter be in jeopardy, but every child in Panem."

"I understand, but what can I do? I'm one person."

"You started a rebellion I'm sure you can convince the president to change his mind."

"You know as well as I do that once his mind is made up there's no changing it. I don't want the Hunger Games to start back up either, but it's not my decision."

"I understand Mrs. Mellark. Thank you for your time."

I sat back down on my bed and tried to take in what I had just heard. The Hunger Games were starting back up again and my mom wouldn't even try to stop it? So much for being "Katniss Everdeen The Girl on Fire". I had no idea what I was going to do. I was sure the president would somehow rig the reaping and I would end up having my name drawn. I mean my parents defied the odds and humiliated the capitol with those berries. Everyone knew the story. The Star-Crossed Lovers from District Twelve. The beginning of the Rebellion. Ugh, my life couldn't suck anymore than it already did. Just then my mom walked in and sat on the edge of my bed.

"So I'm guessing you heard all of that?" I nodded. "I'm sorry, there's really nothing that I can do. I defied the capitol once before, but I'm not the same person anymore."

"I get it mom. But you and I both know that I'm going to end up in The Hunger Games. They'll rig it."

"I know. That's why we're going to make sure you're ready." She gave me a sneaky smile then got up and left. I had no idea what she was planning, but whatever it was, I knew it was serious.
