Chapter One

Im laying here, alone again with nothing but the taste of blood in my mouth. I'd get up but there's a war going on and I don't want to die, i can't die here I made a promise, a promise that I have to keep at all costs. Its pointless anyway I've gone numb, my GEK is too far out reach and I doubt I would be able to stand.

"Voltaic! I'm on my way with a nanite injector!" A voice yells over our squad coms link, a voice that makes me feel somewhat relieved. Star? This won't be the first time that she's saved me now.
"What the hell were you thinking trying to fight a heavy on your own? You're lucky your body didn't get completely decimated." As she injects me I can feel the nanites repair what is left of my body, If i didnt know any better i would have thought that she sounded worried.

"Thank you." I say as I stand up and grab my weapon. As I go to holster my weapon I notice that a round has cut a clean hole in it.
With a quick chuckle I throw it as far as I can.
"Your lucky to be alive." For another moment I felt as if she had actually been worried
" I don't care. It's none of your damn business whether I live or die." I replied in protest to her.
"You know what? Next time you can die! And I won't come to save you." At this moment I decided it would be better to walk away, I dot have time to waste with incompetent fools.

After about 50 meters of thinking I hear an explosion followed by a scream. I turn around and start to scan the battlefield, I see HAVs engaging eachother, one being destroyed after another. Men who are panicking after watching there bestfriends be murdered right in front of them. I hear another scream this time I shiver at the sound of it. Memories I have long supressed start to come back to me, memories I hated, memories I wish I could forget.

It was 15 years ago, A lot has changed since then, especially since it wouldn't be for another 10 years that soldiers would become immortal. By immortal I mean the ability to transfer ones consciousness into the body of their clone. If we had that technology at the time then maybe, just maybe some of my friends would still be with me today.
I was in a squad of six I only knew four of the other members, we had been in bootcamp together. The fifth member was a woman who had transfered over to our squad recently and she never spoke a word to any of us, I wasn't even sure of her name at the time. We were deployed ahead of the other squads, our two snipers took place on the cliff range ahead, all we knew was that we had been deployed in the Jita System and had been told to take control of a Caldari base. From there we deployed two LAVs one driver and one gunner per LAV, I was stuck with that woman. At the time all I could think about was how I'm going to be stuck protecting her, who knew the roles would flip.
