Mummification

The two Warehouse agents walked through the forest, gun, tesla, and neutralizer bag(s) in tow. They were searching for an Egyptian amulet used to bury the dead. It binded the wrappings together, making it impossible for the trapped person to move, or breath. Essentially, the victims were mummified alive.

They continued walking, and searching for the amulet. It was a small, blue and gold amulet. Something caught Pete's eye, and he reached down to pick it up.

"Hey Mykes, I think I found it!"

"Pete don't touch the-" Myka was cut off by the sound of cloth shooting out and wrapping around her fellow agent, "Amulet."

"Mphphm!" The muffled cry came back from the floor near her.

"Don't worry Pete, ok? I-I'll get you out of there before you run out of air!"

"Rmmphphrr?!"

"Ok, just-just don't worry!"

She bent down to inspect the mummified body of her partner. The amulet seemed to be lodged between Pete's hands, and glowing a soft orange. Myka sighed. She realized that she'd have to run back to the car to get the neutralizer can. The agent pulled Pete out of the way, reassured him that she'd be back, and ran off to their car.

The doors clicked open when Myka was still ten feet away. She yanked open the back door and pulled out the goo can and the hose. With those tools in hand, she ran back to her mummified partner.

"Pete? Pete are you still with me?"

"Mhm!"

"Ok, Pete I'm going to spray the amulet with goo, and that should unwrap the bandages and then you should be fine!"

"Jstdpht!"

Myka snapped on the purple gloves, connected the hose to the goo container, and sprayed the amulet. Sparks flew everywhere and the wrappings relaxed. Pete sat up and sucked in air in deep breaths. Myka enveloped Pete in a hug.

"Thanks, Mykes. It's good to have air again." He rubbed her back.

She laughed, then pulled away. They were sitting on the forest floor, neutralized artifact and the guns a few feet away.

"Pete you could've died."

"But I didn't. Because I have you for a partner, and I know you won't let anything bad happen to me!"

"Still, Pete, I-all the bad stuff that's happened in the last few years with everyone getting whammied...it's just getting to me." Tears slipped down her pale face.

Pete put his hands on either side of her face and wiped the tears with his thumbs, "Myka. Look at me. It's going to be ok, and we'll all get through whatever the world throws at us."

Myka looked at Pete, then surged forward and kissed him. Pete's hands tangled themselves in Myka's wild hair, and Myka put her hands at the back of Pete's neck, pulling him closer. They sat on the floor of the forest, kissing each other like it was the last time they'd ever get.

"I love you." Pete whispered against his partners lips.

"I love you too. And I will show you how much when we get back to the B&B." Myka smiled mischievously.

Back at the Warehouse, Pete and Myka gave Artie their case file, all filled out. Myka had done it on the way home.

"Tha-that's it?" Artie asked the two agents, "Nothing in depth? No complications?"

"Nope! It was a pretty low key snag bag and tag." Pete said.

"Ok. Head back to the B&B, and I'll call you if we get another ping."

When Pete and Myka got inside the B&B, they walked straight upstairs. When, he was confident that no one else was in the building, Pete kissed Myka.

"Your room, or mine?" He smiled against her neck.

"Mine." Myka dragged Pete into her room, shut the door, locked it, then kissed Pete passionately.

They were both glad that there were no more pings that day.
