She stood in front of her wall length mirror, smoothing down her hair and checking that her lip gloss wasn't smudged.
Usually when she went out with a guy she didn't spend time preening in front of the mirror, giving her appearance a second and third look, making sure everything was in place. Guys told her she was attractive all the time so she didn't see the point in fretting.
But tonight was different.
Priestly, or rather Boaz had asked her out on a date.
So that was how Tish came to find herself standing in front of her mirror, nervous as to what Priestly would think. Usually she didn't care what other people thought but she found herself wanting to make a good impression on Priestly, show him that she wasn't the man-eater that everyone thought her to be. It was just easier to adapt that persona.
But no longer. Tonight she was starting fresh. A first date and a new beginning.
Just as she was patting down the creases on her dress; a bit more conservative than she normally wore, a neckline not as drastic and cutting off just at her knee; she heard the doorbell ring and felt the flutter of anticipation in her stomach.
"Coming" She called out as she padded across the carpet, a dull thud as her heels connected with the floor.
Opening the door revealed Priestly in a new look that would still take some time getting used to. Gone were the piercings and crazy Mohawks which clashed with outrageous statements on bright coloured tees, in its place was hair that was shorter and light brown, yet still lightly spiked, a black dress shirt over black trousers and a shiny pair of dress shoes.
Tish gave a bright smile that was returned just as big.
"Come on in, I just need to grab my purse," Opening the door to allow entrance, Priestly gave a shy smile before coming in to stand in the hallway, one hand placed behind his back.
"I brought you this," Pulling from behind his back a flower, "I know its not what would be normally considered the ideal first date flower but I think its hugely underrated"
Tish took the lily from Priestly and ran her finger over the smooth petal.
"It's beautiful" Leaning over and placing a kiss on his lips, feeling the smile as they broke apart on her face just as it was on his.
