::Scarlett's POV::

I'd never given much thought on how I would die.

The rare times it did cross my mind,I never believed this would ever be the way I would go. At the hands of a tyrannical president,sacrificing myself to save my daughter. I never would have had the heart to let Charlotte die,she's only five and a half,she's got her whole life ahead of her.

I was dying because I back talked the president and he gave me an ultimatum-take the poison,or administer it to Charlotte myself. I would never give my own flesh and blood a poison that eats away at the organs of its victims! So,the only choice was to give my own life. Fortunately,it would be quick...but I would be in agony. I'd ordered everybody out,not wanting them to hear my screams. Thank God that I was in a soundproof room. Here I was,all alone,ready to die...oh,here we go...

::3rd person POV::

Scarlett's screams ripped through her,echoing in the cavernous room of the presidents office. As she shrieked in agony,she stated to convulse,knocking a vase off a table near her. The screams only got worse,and more high pitched. Eventually,the glass windows shattered at the high pitches Scarlett has reached. The room was not soundproof,and outside one of the three people was smiling with malicious glee,while the other two were slack jawed with horror.

Vislor Turlough-the eldest of the horrified people-turned to the president. "That's my wife in there!" he yelled,pointing at the door that led to the office where Scarlett was still audible. "She's in there,obviously in pain,and dying! And I'm not in there with her! Do you see something wrong with this picture?!"The president smiled psychotically,"no,I don't. I see the beginning of a perfect society. Just so you know,this is being shown in all the homes on every part of Trion". "What?! Let me get this straight-you are broadcasting my wife's excruciating death to the whole planet?!" The president nodded and began to laugh.

Inside,Scarlett was finally in death's clutches,falling asleep quickly. Her breathing slowed,and her thought process stopped. She could register no pain,only peace. She still had fight in her though,and she refused to let go.

"You-you sick bastard!" Turlough stepped away from the president,pushing Charlotte behind him. "Daddy,I think Mummy's stopped shouting" Charlotte whimpered,peeking out to look at the president,then ducking back when she saw the crazy glint in his eyes. "She's gone. Scarlett 's gone. I-I can't believe it. I'll never see her again..." The president nodded,sure that everyone on the planet got the message. "Is Mummy dead?" Charlotte asked,crying softly. Turlough knelt down in front of his little girl,"Lottie,I'm so sorry,but yes,Mummy's dead" She should never of had to go through this,not at her age. "Can we go now?" Charlotte asked,hanging her head. Her father could only nod,then he picked her up and walked out,ignoring the insane president,who was too busy laughing to notice the pair leave.

Scarlett had no more fight left in her,and succumbed to death. Her eyes closed her her heart stopped. She would now breathe no more...

'And I breathe,

I breathe,

I breathe-

I breathe no more.'
