Nobody Gets Left Behind

A/N I wanted to do another Shrek fic but the idea for it had been in my head all weekend and needed to be let out but it involves my favourite young King Artie adopting a young ogre girl and along with Lillian taking care of her but I hope people enjoy.

It was a dreary Autumn day in Far, Far Away but Artie was feeling sad.

He knew that the entire kingdom liked him but felt like he had no family because his father had left him at Worchester but sighed as it was his birthday but didn't want to think about it.

He knew that Fiona and the others liked him but he wanted his own friends and family but he shook these thoughts away as he returned to the castle that he and his Aunt Lillian shared but he went into the throne room.

But then he heard commotion as he saw guards enter along with something in their arms but it was fighting to let go of the guards grip but Artie gasped seeing that it was a young girl but was an ogre.

She had blue eyes, long hazel hair which covered her olive green skinned face but was slender but she looked scared.

"Let her go!

You guys are scaring her!" the King told them.

The guards let her go.

Artie then bent down to the child's level.

She looked very scared but saw kindness in his emerald green eyes.

"Don't be afraid.

I won't hurt you.

I'm Artie.

What's your name?" he asked her.

But the young girl was afraid because she was worried about her parents.

"Her name's Hina.

We found her wandering the forest as the other guards were chasing her parents off their land." a guard answered Artie.

The young King was shocked hearing that.

He knew what to do.

"She'll stay with us." he said as Lillian agreed.

Hina hid behind Lillian as the guards left but Artie looked angry as he along with Lillian went back into the castle but the former Queen was holding the young ogre girl's hand.

But something bothered Artie.

Shrek was surprised seeing Artie as he opened the door of his home but was curious seeing the look in his young friend's eyes.

He wondered what was wrong as they went inside but was shocked as he explained to him about Hina but understood as he felt sorry for Hina but knew this happened to some young ogrelings when guards scared their families but had a feeling that Hina's parents were in a tournament but he hoped that wasn't true.

"You think that?

Then Lillian and I will raise her as our own.

It doesn't matter what the kingdom will think." Artie told him drinking tea.

Fiona admired her cousin's courage to do this even though the kingdom mightn't see things his way.

He then hoped that things would be okay........
