A/N: I actually had this idea for a while but I didn't know how to write it but I've figured it out.
"If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down
Darling wait and see
And between now and then
Til I see you again
I'll be loving you
Love, Me."
-Love, Me by Collin Raye
Fiyero, in the dead of night, snuck to the tree on the edge of the Vinkus and Munchkinland, hoping to see his love there. Her father didn't like him a lot. They had all these plans to run to the Emerald City and get married at the first church they found. Instead of his love he found a note nailed to the tree. It was dated for June 4, 1923 and it said, "If you get there before I do, Don't give up on me. I'll meet you when my chores are through, I don't know how long I'll be. But I'm not gonna let you down, Darling wait and see. And between now and then Til I see you again, I'll be loving you, Love, Me."
Years later, an elderly Fiyero was talking to his six-year-old grandson, Amos. He pulled out the note from his coat pocket and showed the boy and said, "Boy, you might not understand, but a long, long time ago, Grandma's daddy didn't like me much but I loved your Grandma so. We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together. Get married in the first church we found, and live forever. But nailed to the tree, where we were supposed to meet instead I found this letter." Amos read the letter for his Granddaddy, since his eyes were gone. "If you get there before I do, don't give you on me. I'll meet you when my chores are through, I don't know how long I'll be. But I'm not gonna let you down, Darling wait and see-" Elphaba came out with a shawl wrapped around herself and took the letter from her young grandson's fingers and finished it for him.
"And between now and then Til I see you again, I'll be loving you. Love, Me." Fiyero had to smile as did Elphaba. Elphaba gave the letter back to Fiyero with a peck on the cheek before walking back into the house.
Nine years later, Amos was reading the letter outside the hospital room where his Grandma was slowly losing the will to live. A few hours later she was gone. A couple weeks went by as the funeral plans were set. Fiyero stopped with Amos by his side at the doorway of the church to pray for a moment. Amos went up to the front in his black suit with his Granddaddy by his side. It was an open casket service and Fiyero took Elphaba's cold hand as he began to softly say, "If you get there before I do…Don't give up on me, I'll meet you when my chores are through, I don't know how long I'll be…But I'm not gonna you down, Darling wait and see…And between now and then, Til I see you again, I'll be loving you…Love, Me." Fiyero went to his knees as he cried. Amos also felt tears go down his cheeks.
And between now and then,
Til I see you again,
I'll be loving you,
Love, Me.
End. I swear that I am not sad about anything I just keep getting inspiration by sad stuff!
