Up In Flames; spoilers for Supernatural 5.03; PG; 220 words

The first thing he does is pull out all of his hunting gear. His knife, a 9mm with iron rounds, a book of matches, and a mostly empty container of lighter fluid is all he has left.

And a box of hundreds of identities, none of them able to identify who he is now; who he's become.

He pulls them out, one by one, thumb running over the names printed there. Phil Jones. Frank Beard. Dan Bachman. He tosses them into the sink one after the other. FBI. State Police. Health Inspector. Reporter. Security. Regular driver's licenses for a dozen or more states. Each and every one of them a lie.

The last of his light fluid is dashed over them, but he hesitates before picking up the matches. Pulling out his wallet, he slides the last ID from behind its plastic shield.

A driver's license issued from the state of California to one Samuel Winchester.

Without another thought, the card lands atop the others in a puddle of lighter fluid. That one is a lie too.

Sam Winchester died in New Harmony, Indiana that night with his brother. Only there is nothing that can resurrect him this time.

A strike of a match, a flick of his wrist and it all goes up in flames.

Just like his life.
