Then, I regretted never knowing the warmth of your arms, only your smile. I would have died never knowing the completeness…

Like being here

Wrapped in the warmth of you

Now, I know what it is like to be wrapped in the warmth of your arms; I know the feel of the lips that compose those dazzling smiles. There is no need for heaven in the afterlife when I can find it here on earth.

Loving every breath of you

Leaning my head gently against yours, I let our breathing intermingle.

Still in my heart this moment

I watch your chest softly rise and fall, imagining the heart that beats beneath it. The heart that belongs to me.

Or it might burst

As mine does to you.

Could we stay right here?

Sometimes I wish we could stay here like this forever, so I could simply revel in this feeling of aliveness that you give me.

But I suppose that the beauty of this moment derives exactly from that fact that it is ephemeral; that it will never be and could never be forever.

No matter. Forever may not exist, but that's how long I'll love you anyway.

I hated you before I even met you.

And never known your face

Before I even knew your beautiful face from another in the crowd.

You were my sworn enemy of generations, the reason I was left with this curse and this aching crevice inside.

I couldn't quite place what it was, until I realised that what was missing…

In that single moment, when your eyes said 'yes' and you embraced me even with all of my faults, the turmoil in my heart ceased.

I am safe here in your arms. It is where I am now and where I will always be. And when I'm not, it is where I will want to be.

Bathed in your sighs

Something disturbs you, your forehead creasing in agitation as you momentarily tighten your grip on me. I hug you closer and you relax into my touch, sighing in your sleep.

The one I've waited for

If only I had known that sooner, if only you had realised sooner. The time we have left, though it seems long, is still as precious as if it were to end tomorrow.

You look up at me, your ruby eyes hazy with sleep. I run my fingers gently across your cheek and you smile. You gaze at me awhile longer, the content smile lingering on your face, before you drift back off.

I've found the one I've waited for

Selfish as the thought is, I cannot help it. You are the one I've always waited for and now I've found you…

"I never want to let you go," I whisper the words softly against your lips.

You draw me closer. "I know."

Trying to be minimalist after a very long story and failing! I hardly ever write in the second person so thought I should give it a go. Speed writing: done in 20 minutes.
