Different Lives

Disclaimer: I don't own DGM.

I don't know what compelled me to write this one (since I was watching Scary Movie when I wrote this, moreover I was in a new environment alone far far away from home), but it turned out okay... (I guess).

Critics and comments are welcome.

Gentle tapping on waxed wooden surface accompanied the beautiful melody echoing in the white-washed room. Translucent silvery notes swirled around the walls as the grand piano at the center of the empty spacious room was played by skillful mismatched hands.

The melody continued to play in a cycle of unending sonatas as hours past like seconds. The lone audience sat on the piano, striped stocking clad feet swishing back and forth in rhythm to the soft flowing music, while the maestro was intent on his piano playing.

No words were exchanged between them because there was no need to. Exchanging words and reassuring gesture were things of a pastime. They were beyond that. Music and sound had long became their companion during these times. When he arrived, he would silently sat on the bench and hit the keys, whilst she would simply perched upon the piano and tapped her finger in time with his.

It was their routine. A covert one but it exist nonetheless.

In the time when all beings were deep within the Goddess Morrigan's embrace would they meet. She, a being of the humanity's darkest secret, and he, a being born under the sun of humanity. In this brief repose from life they were simply 'him' and 'her', accepted by each other as who and what they were. He played solely for her sake, and she stayed solely for his sake.

Neither he nor she could remember how it started, but they cherished every moment that happened as their endeared companionship was by all means forbidden.

The second the sun rose over the horizon his note hit an end, and her tapping stopped. Her feet swung one last time to heft herself off. He stared at her back, hands resting at his sides. She turned around to face him and offered her hand. The maestro took her proffered hand and she helped him stand. Their hands lingered for just a second longer than necessary before being let go.

Sad eyes found each other for this might be their last encounter nothing was ever sure outside of their covert meetings. But that didn't stop them from wanting more. Wishing for just one more time...

She broke the contact by closing her eyes first, then he closed his.

And their white room along with the grand piano vanished.

Allen Walker found himself waking up to Link's voice telling him to get ready. His mind reeled back in distaste as he remembered his surveillance. Another day waiting for the inevitable has begun.

Road Kamelot opened her eyes and stared at the elaborate laces decorating her bed sheets until a knock on her door by her handmaiden resounded within her room. She spent half a minute to get her facade on before telling the handmaiden to come in. Another day of living lies has begun.
