They had first met Jim Moriarty at a very young age. He'd murdered one the pair's parents. Two poor, lost, little girls running away from an invisible danger as a loving husband and wife lay dead in their home. She'd been paranoid ever since that night, was sure there was someone watching her, all the time, everywhere, every when, watching and waiting for her to let her guard down. Her friend had tried to help her as they got older.

Eleanor had to face it, her friend Neve was gone.

She was sitting in the police station, crying quietly, wishing her friend to come back. Neve had disappeared from Eleanor's house a few hours ago. She felt totally responsible; her friend had gone missing in her house. Who else could she blame?

Neve (Jesabelle Nightingale) had been Eleanor's friend since they were both 3. Neve was a few hours younger than Ellie and they felt as if they had a strong bond. They felt like sisters from such a young age. After Neve's parents were murdered in their house at night, Neve started to live with Ellie. They did everything together, went to school, did group assignments, and played games, their whole lives were intertwined. Until Neve disappeared.

No one was sure why Neve's parents were killed first of all, and afterwards, no one knew why Neve had disappeared. Sure, there were some conspiracy theories; Neve's parents worked for an enemy government and they had to be eliminated, Neve's parents were aliens sent down to observe our race and when they went back to their home planet they left their human bodies behind, or the classic, they annoyed an assassin who then exacted revenge. Nothing seemed right about their death, but the girls had ignored the evidence. They were kids, it wasn't their job to play detective and solve the big, bad, scary murder. They ignored it, like most other people did.

Neve's disappearance is what drove Ellie to her life of crime prevention/apprehension. Ellie wanted to stop whatever happened to Neve from happening to anyone else. She never lost hope that Neve was still alive.

Ellie's parents had gone out to gather take-away for dinner while Ellie and Neve played in the lounge room, they were only 10 years old. Ellie went to go grab something from her room to bring down for the two girls to play with. She went upstairs and when she returned Neve was gone. There was no sign of a forced entry to the house. Neve just vanished.

Six years later Ellie was looking into the face of her long lost friend. The girl she had shared everything in her life with. Now they were enemies.

"Neve... You're still alive..."

"...Ellie? They told me that they had found the guy responsible for Jim's death and that we had the perfect lead to finding him. I didn't... I never thought... You..."

"How...?"

"It's a long story Ellie. A very long story."
