Narcissa was looking through a box of her mothers letters that she'd found in Bella's things. The first envelope contained a wedding invitation for her mother to Narcissa's own wedding. She remembered how proud her mother had been that she was going to marry Lucius Malfoy. What was it her mother had said? Narcissa Malfoy, it just sounds right, doesn't it?

Next she lifted a folded piece of parchment from the box. It was a drawing of the Black family tree. There was her name next to those of her sister's, Bellatrix and Andromeda. It had often puzzled her that she wasn't named for the stars like the rest of her family. She'd tried a few times to ask her mother about it but had never really gotten an answer.

Underneath were a few letters from other family members and more wedding invitations. She wondered that her mother had given these things to Bella. She supposed it was because Bella was the eldest, though she doubted Bella had even lifted the lid from this box.

The next envelope she took from the box contained something other than paper. She emptied the envelope into her palm, it contained a locket and a note. The note simply read Dearest Druella, Thinking of you always, AM. It was dated 1954.Who was AM? Opening the locket Narcissa saw a picture of a man, he seemed familiar, and then the pieces fell into place. Suddenly her name, her mother's favouritism, her blonde hair amongst a family of brunettes made sickening sense. The man in the photo was her father-in-law, Abraxas Malfoy. She dropped the box in shock, spilling it's contents on the floor.

"Is everything alright, Narcissa?" asked her husband. She looked across the room at him, with his matching hair and eyes and felt sick.

"Yes dear," she managed to say, crouching down to pick up the papers, her trembling hands not helping.

"Let me help you mother," said Draco as he leaned down next to her and started scooping letters into the box. Oh, Draco, her poor baby, what this would mean for him?

She let him gather all the papers while she concentrated on slowing her breathing.

"Mother?" he asked, "Mother, are you all right?"

"Yes darling," she managed, "just feeling a little faint, I think I'll go rest a while."
