Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's the classic "Duck Takes Charge" from Season 2, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.
"Do you know what?" asked Percy.
"What?!" grunted Gordon.
"Do you know what?"
"Silly!" said Gordon. "Of course I don't know what because you won't tell me what it is!"
"Sir Topham Hatt says that the work in the yard is too heavy for me! He's getting a bigger engine to help me!"
"Rubbish!" said James. "Any engine could do it. If you worked hard and chattered less, this would be a happier yard!"
Percy went off to fetch some coaches. While collecting the coaches, he noticed a signal.
"Stupid old signal!" he thought. He remembered the time when he misunderstood a signal, and went backwards instead of forwards.
"No one listens to me now! They think I'm a silly little green engine and order me about! I'll show them, I'll show them!"
By the end of the afternoon, he felt tired and unhappy He brought some coaches to the station, where Sir Topham Hatt was waiting for him.
"Hello Percy!" said Sir Topham Hatt. "You look tired."
"Yes sir! I don't know if I'm standing on my dome or my wheels!"
"You look the right way to me!" laughed Sir Topham Hatt. "Cheer up! The new engine is bigger than you and can probably do the work on it's own! In the meantime, would you like to help build my new harbor? Thomas and Toby are helping as well."
"Oh yes sir! Thank you sir!"
Later, the new engine arrived.
"What's your name?" asked Sir Topham Hatt.
"My name is Duck! Some people say I waddle, but I'm just an engine.
"Duck it shall be!"
Soon Percy came over to see the new engine.
"Here Percy, show Duck around."
The two engines went off together, and soon they were very busy.
James, Henry and Gordon watched Duck quietly and efficiently doing his work.
"He seems like a simple engine." said Henry.
"Let's order him about!" said James.
Gordon and Henry puffed up to Duck, quacking and wheezing at him as they went by. James stayed behind until the conductor blew his whistle, laughing. When he blew his whistle, he puffed away, and all three engines felt very pleased.
After the three engines had gone, Percy came back. He was cross, but Duck took no notice.
"They'll get tired of it soon." said Duck. "Do they tell you to do things Percy?"
"Yes they do!" said Percy.
"We'll soon stop this nonsense."
Sir Topham Hatt was enjoying hot buttered toast for tea at home. Suddenly, he heard a extraordinary noise!
"WHEESH, QUACK-QUACK!"
"Bother!" he said as he hurried to the yard.
Duck and Percy sat outside the sheds, refusing to let any of the bigger engines in!
Gordon, James, and Henry were furious!
"STOP THAT NOISE!" boomed Sir Topham Hatt.
"They won't let us in!" hissed Gordon crossly.
"Duck, explain this behavior.
"Beg pardon sir, but I'm a Great Western Engine. We do our work without fuss, but it would be great sir, if you tell these engines that we only take orders from you!
The bigger engines tooted their whistles.
"QUIET!" called Sir Topham Hatt. "Percy and Duck, I am pleased with your work today, but not with your behavior now. You have caused a disturbance!
Gordon, James, and Henry sniggered.
"And as for you!" thundered Sir Topham Hatt, "you've been worse. You've caused the disturbance! Duck is quite right. This is my railway, and I give the orders! Now everyone go back to work at once!"
"Yes sir." called the engines.
Afterwords, Duck managed to do the work alone. He did it, easilly.
