Myst III Exile
Part1
Chapter 2
His hand trembling, he linked back to D'ni. Catherine, Yeesha, and Jovanise waited back in the ancient land of Terahnee. "My god," Catherine exclaimed. "This is all happening so fast. First you came," She glanced over at Jovanise. "Then our dearest friend J'ovaris linked to a living hell, and now Atrus is gone to get some supplies so that we can rescue our fri-" "We know," Jovanise said right after Catherine had just been cut off. Then they heard the familier linking sound and the whole lot ran through the forest. "Atrus!" Both Yeesha and Catherine said as they ran toward him to give him a hug. Once they were done Catherine noticed a worried face on Atrus. "Catherine then asked," Is something the matter dear husband?" "Do you remember three days ago when we had gotten that letter?" "Yes....... Why?" "Our library is......um..........er...... What I'm trying to say that on our old home in D'ni.....do you remember our library?" "Why, of course I do." Well, when I got there, the books were all scattered on the floor. And I found this note in the middle of the destruction." Catherine took the note, read it, and almost looked like she saw a ghost. Jovanise took the note and read it.
Where spirits rise and death come up,
Whilst you drink out of the cup of death,
I search for death whilst you come running up and greet it.
And where I die you shall be buried right beneath it.
"I.......I.......don't understand........" Jovanise and Catherine exclaimed at once. "I don't either," Atrus replied. "All I found was a goblet of blood, a large book that turned out to be Riven, and a Linking book that was the link to J'nanin that was under the linking book. And this handwriting looks like J'ovaris's." "You mean he has come back from J'nanin?" Catherine asked with a little smile, but it looked like she was still frightened. "No. Don't you understand? He's gone mad. He's gone mad in J'nanin. But his ghost still remains in D'ni."

Blood still dripping from his hand, he wrote another day in his journal.
Day 4
I tried and cut down the plants in the Vegetable Age, but I later regretted it. I slept quite fine precisely four days ago. Now the only problem is that I hear someone laughing in the moonlight. Something is missing. One night I opened my wooden, ornate door and looked all over the lonely island. Then I figured out who was laughing. The person who was laughing was myself.
He paused. Looked up at the moonlight, sweat dripping, and thought about the night he found out that he was the one who was laughing. "I'm going crazy. Mad that I am. I have to blame this on someone. Surely It's not my fault." He continued writing.
I do have to blame it on someone. And who ever I blame shall die very slowly. Curse him and maybe his family.
He thought about his most dearest friend.
Atrus. I blame Atrus for inspiring me to write. I must stop now. When or if I get out of this living hell, I'll kill Atrus. And let him die.
Then he fainted and fell, almost dead, onto a hard, rock floor.
